It's a song about youthful disillusionment. Ivan has a dream in which another man is stending over him, turning his back to Ivan. Ivan wants to go on the hills, because he has seen the fires, that means someone is fighting, and he wants to fight too. Ivan is young and wants to fight, although he doesn't really know for what. The man reveals to Ivan that the fires are just the headlights of the tractors that are threshing the field, so it was all an illusion: in a metaphorical sense, like the ideals that we have in youth, they are weak and fake. The final strophe is the same of the first, but now we have discovered something more: the man, who is turning his back to Ivan, is Ivan himself, Ivan of the future, who wants to hide his identity, like a thriller story. This is a epical final, and the music is obscure (as well as beautiful) in some parts of the song, like the misterious story. It's a masterpiece.
