Hey Everyone! Thank you for being here today. I’m so happy you are here with me today to see what I created.
Today’s piece is inspired by: Metallic Colours with a POP of Blue Green - using only Pebeo brands. I wanted to create a galactic yet spiritual piece. Have I achieved that?
Technique used: Travelling Open Cup
What I learnt: getting the base coat is key to consistency and success of the over all design.
Colour palette: Winsor & Newton Mars Black for the base. All other colours are by Pebeo: Iridescent Silver, Gold, Copper and Blue Green .
Time Stamps: If you want to go to a specific section of the video, here are the main segments:
00:50 Let's put the base colour down
03:24 Layering the open cup
04:15 Travelling cup pour
07:50 Wet version look before tilting
08:54 Let's tilt
12:40 Wet look at final version
14:00 Dry version
Hair/Blow Dryer: I currently use the Remington D3010 and always use the cool setting unless I specify otherwise.
I have a video that shows you how I mix my paints for various techniques: • Fluid Acrylic Pouring ...

So glad you left a touch of black in background. It was hard to watch the majority of that go. It pulls the brilliance into the color just like white can. Lovely. Very lovely.

Two separate panels with contrasting backgrounds, one white, one black. The metallics are awesome but so are the deep turquoise blues and oranges. Peach hues and neutrals that arrive from these blends are always amazing. Purples. Everyone loves purples.

Mark, I just wanted to let you know: when you want to do a traveling cup, you don't need to pick the cup yourself, manually. You can make the cup move on its own, simply by the height you pour the colors into the cup....if you don't realize this, try it out. I love to make the cup "dance" across the canvas...I get a kick out of it every time.

Copper is my favorite of the metallic colors. It brings pinks and sometimes orange to a pour. Which brings me to a suggestion. Have you ever thought of doing a ribbon pour with copper, parchment, burnt sienna and a little black? Could give you a look of granite or marble.

I really like this piece Mark… love the minimal amount of colours! Are those cells what they call Chameleon Cells? And, as for videos I like to watch… I am drawn to one’s that use just a few colours. Don’t get me wrong, I have my fav artists, and I usually watch all of their videos; to name a few, yourself (of course😁), Gilly and Julie, from QLD Australia, Tammy Anderson and a couple more that I can’t think of right now! 🙄 I like to watch tutorials that are designed for beginners, ones that I could go and try with what supplies I have on hand… and the reason I like minimal colours is because, even tho I’ve tried to study the colour wheel and watch tutorials about learning colours… I still don’t feel that I have a clue what colours go with what so… whenever I do get game enough to try another pour (I’ve only ever done one, and that was a month or more ago), I’ll probably only use 3 or 4 colours at a time!! Oh, my apologies that I dribbled on so much… I didn’t realise how much until I stopped! 🤭 ♥️♥️

12:49 Colours there look like Jupiter's surface. Choosing the right colours is def something I'd like to learn more about. I taught a small group how to do some basic cup pours and wish I had a little more knowledge to help people with their colour choices. Afterwards, I saw some paintings where the colours were all too similar. Such a balance of needing some contrast between the paints, but not too many opposing colours to avoid muddy results. Is this art? or maybe Science and Mathematics?
