Fausto Bolaños No they just like metallica and lars. There are a ton of drummers out there that are better athletes but, most of them are boring as fuck. Lars' playing is not, good or bad, boring though and some of the old stuff are epic and that is what people cheer about when they get played live, not how hard they are by today's standards or whatever. People don't want to see a kid playing his parts better (even though youtube maybe full of them) or hammett's solos if you want to take it there. You want the originals. If that was the case, ozzy insists on singing about three and a half tones down for some of his songs now and that is almost disgracing but, I wouldn't want to see somebody else doing the gigs you know? I'd prefer him to call it quits. Ulrich is not at that state however, he has has surgeries anyway and people don't always age like mangini or lombardo do (which, no disrespect but have not even done a tenth of the gigs ulrich did nor did they party so hard lol, they practiced and maintained their selves!). If he wan't do the gigs right I'd prefer him to stop too.

People say that this song is really hard to play. I say otherwise. It's just a matter of practice and motivation. Plus, alternate picking would make it harder to play. I learned the hard way. This song is really meant for down picking. Start by playing easy to moderate songs. Use a lot of down picking. For strumming regular chords (E minor, G major, etc) you do have to strum up and down. For bar chords, you do a lot of down picking. I'm not shaming alternate picking, in fact, play easy solos with alternate picking. It not only can increase your picking, but it also builds dexterity in your fingers. Another tip would be using a lot of hammer-ons when necessary, allowing you to act faster and more accurate. This is from what I did, and it's just a suggestion of mine.
