"thought they were a heavy band".... give that man some Dyer's Eve, or Blackened. And then turn right around and expose him to the original S&M concert version of 'Outlaw Torn'....

Just put on Moscow 1991, Hetfield unleashed

The story I heard was Hetfield was talking on the phone and because all of the first notes are open strings he just started to mindlessly play it as he was speaking with the other person and he just progressed it from there.....also one of the few tunes where Hetfield plays the solo instead of Hammett

It was a ex girlfriend he was on the phone with, when he got the idea for it., so yeah you're spot on mate.

This is the song that divided fans. A lot of fans who listened to Metallica from their "Thrash" beginnings hated it & new listeners who heard this as their first song loved it.

i still get goosebumps listening to this song, its truly one of their masterpieces. office bloke daz you are correct in that metallica are a hard rock band but on every album they have a slow song like this. try fade to black from the album ride the lightning, welcome home sanitarium from master of puppets and mama said from load. all quality easy listening from metallica, if you want something heavier from them try master of puppets (the song) for whom the bell tolls and the thing that should not be. it would be great if you guys could also react to some megadeth (tornado of souls) , machine head (davidian) and sepultura (refuse/resist) all 3 of them were part of the big thrash movement from the mid 90's. keep up the good work guys

The strings section of *_Nothing Else Matters_** and *_Disarm°_* are the two songs that got me to love a strings section in Rock and all its sub-genres.🎻 *being Metallica, °being The Smashing Pumpkins

Once again, great reaction. The bloke on the left (You would think I would know your names by now) is spot on about how the song came to be. I highly recommend you check out the song "Orion" by Metallica. It's an instrumental that takes you on a journey through outer space. Very well done. A touch on the heavy side but it makes you feel like you are on an intergalactic journey. No lyrics are needed. Their old bassist, Cliff Burton who was killed in a bus crash shortly after this album released has said this was his greatest song he helped compose. He has a beautiful bass part in the middle of the song which was his favorite riff. I hope you check it out some day.

You really need to listen to hardwired..to self destruct. Remember how Ride the lightning, and justice for all as well as Master of puppets was like getting punched in the face for 70 minutes? Yea, its a lot like that.

You should check out Orbit Culture. I suggest Open Eye or Nensha. Nensha is trilogy of songs, all three have videos and tell a story. Nensha, Rebirth, and The Shadowing. The band is so talented, and have inspirations of some of the greatest bands out there. They also have a cover of Metallica's hardwired to self destruct and it's a solid improvement

There is a cover version of this song on youtube, a young Canadian (?) gjrl singing, a German girl on the drums all in their countries and in their studios. Brilliant. Don`t have to checkit out on this channel, but listen to it! It`s worth it! Eh, sorry, no drums, only piano.

Theres 2 styles of Metallica: the heavy thrash metal, and the more mellow rock/traditional rock. No matter what anyone says, both are awesome when these guys do them. You could listen to literally ever track on the Black Album and not hit skip once.

Certainly one of my fav songs from Metallica. But ...... I'll keep trying (as one former office bloke to 3 others)...... I hope you can find the time to react to these TOP LINEUP OF MANY MUSICAL INTRUMENTS/SINGERS: The Source is the 9th studio album from *AYREON* , a progressive metal/rock opera project by Dutch musician Arjen (Ahr-Yun) Anthony Lucassen, released on April 28, 2017. *_"The Day That The World Breaks Down"_* is a song that features all 11 (quite well known) main guest singers and is taken from that album. Arjenhimself is telling (in subtitles) who the singers are and which instruments are used and by which standards. Btw. The clip is 13 min. Long and I think you won’t regret it !! Official (Arjen’s) clip: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/paylgK6V1-C0oYk.html
