@@Stavrhs they were more metal with Jason. That guy's bass was heavy and his backing vocals were better than Hetfield's early screams. Jason was very underused in Metallica.

You can definitely tell that Cliff was playing lead on this song even though he is bassist. I don't think it has been done before or since where the Bassist is the lead

Bass guitar is fairly new still. Years ago it was just a support instrument until people got better especially the few who had passion in music. Cliff definitely set a new standard proving its not just a support instrument. There are many people who are just as good even better than Cliff. However, nobody can take his crown for style. It is 1 of a kind.
