The album with the least bass is the one that got me into Metallica and into playing bass. As James Hetfield once said, the songs in this album are full of rhythm guitar solos. Adding bass to the mix of these songs does take them to a whole new level (in my opinion). With or without bass this album is on my top favorite albums of all time.
*About the bass tone: I did stray from the original bass sound a little on this one on purpose. The timbre Jason has here sounds too scooped and thin. My impression is they rushed the bass production on this one (no doubt).

I didn't learn about the bass in this mix until much later in life. It's weird that it has always been my favorite album and bass is now my favorite instrument. It's nice to see this played without a pick.

It’s so respectful of the original performance while feeling fresh. And the Alembic was the perfect choice. You captured his live tone nicely. I believe the record was done with an ESP prototype. Never cease to be impressed by you Sir.

Alembic beast, Thanks for bringing the bass sound Out from hiding. Like nonsense they pulled on jason in the studio.Thank you. Dam that Bass sounds so good. When I saw them live during this album. You could feel his Bass guitar And hear it when I saw them at the Gulf coast coliseum I saw them at. Incredible show. I was 13 but I remember it like it was yesterday. When the album came out me and my friends were floored u coukdnt hear jason. We tried everything, it wasnt on our end. After the basstone on garage days we were so ready for his( jason's)debut . Then nothing. ....Gimme him some volume, damnit.

I wouldn't mind listening to AJFA with that kind of bass tone and volume :D I totally slept on that album when I was a kid because it sounded weak and dated to me, even though I didn't know a thing about production and instruments back then. Mind blowing how important good bass tone is.
