Metaphor ReFantazio has the 3 pillars of what makes a Game of the Year quality game for me. In this video, I'm going to break down what I call VSQ and how ATLUS has created something incredible with this game. It reminds me of Xenoblade Chronicles, The Legend of Heroes, Persona and SMT.

for people wondering where the game gets its enemy design from, they're inspired by the famous dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch, with several designs being more or less lifted from his paintings. The game looks incredible

The main issues I had with Soul Hackers 2 was that it felt like a budget title. So far this game looks like it has a far higher budget.

I don't know about Soul Hackers 2 being a budget title, I think some people at Atlus/SEGA were positioning it as a third pillar alongside the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona franchises, but SEGA confirmed that SH2's sales were lower than were expecting

Soulhackers 2 was a soulless persona clone. This still has persona elements, but clearly takes another direction in many other areas. Wished they got a bit more smt elements. But we will see.

@@pablocasas5906 it definitely felt hamstrung by budget and/or time given how empty the world was. That said, it had some of best Atlus writing, period. The cast of characters was fantastic.

@@dashawnjean3604 that! I beat most of my RPG’s in handheld mode these days and while I know I miss being part of the conversation day 1 by not having the other consoles I’m content with waiting due to my backlog already being on lockdown! And multiple eco-systems as an adult is tough.

I still wonder why Atlus didn't make a Switch version, I mean perhaps they had trouble running Metaphor on the Switch, but if Shin Megami Tensei V and Persona 5 Royal can run on the Switch I think Metaphor could've run as well, with some sacrifices, of course And while there's been some leaks claiming that Metaphor and Persona 3 Reload will arrive on the Switch 2 when it lauches, Atlus confirmed that Metaphor's development began in 2019, I think they could've included a Switch vesion during development

@@pablocasas5906 I think unreal 4 is just too much for switch at times and both P3R and MRF use Unreal 4. It seems devs are getting switch 2 devkits and are saying yeah we wanna work with this over switch 1, im not mad at that thought. im ready for new hardware from Nintendo. But given the option i would play this on switch as well.

Game looks sick. I watched the 26 minute or so video about it the other day, think it was an Atlus showcase r something, and it looks amazing. Even better than the Persona games, which I love. Hope it lives up to the hype cus it sure looks awesome. I haven't been this excited for a game in a long time!

My personal idea for the enemies in the game, "Humans" is that they're actually just humans from our real world, that coincides with this fantasy world, but theyve somehow slipped or been pulled into this world from their reality. I think that once theyre taken into this new fantasy world, they either naturally or are sortve forced to shift into horrifying monsters. Basically theyve been warped by space, time, reality, etc. After being taken from reality and changed into "humans" in this fantasy world

Looks really good and I'm super interested, but basically on how Atlus has been releasing games the last few years, I'm going to wait a year and half or so and get the "Special But-Not-a-Remake Remake Edition" with extra content, added DLC, and upgraded graphics on Steam when it's on sale for $20 a couple months after's it's PC release. Really looking forward to adding this to my 26 backlog.

I know it’s alleged that it will come to switch 2 when that releases but it still is wild when at launch I see games like P3 reload, metaphor, and the next trials game come to Xbox and not Nintendo. If I was an only switch player, the wait for those games would be painful. Lol

I LOVE FF7 Rebirth. FF7 has been second all time favorite game behind Xenogears. Despite that I will not be mad and actually think that this game has the potential to be my new favorite or be up there with Xenogears, FF7, and the Trails (Legend of Heroes) series FOR ME. I want to play it YESTERDAY lol but I can wait because I still want to play Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, Unicorn Overlord, and Trails through Daybreak which isn’t out yet but will be out before Metaphor Refantazio. Thanks for the footage of this game. I haven’t seen much so it can be a complete surprise for me when I play it. I watched this one and ONLY this video about the game in hopes to hear a release date and I got it so thanks, brother.

Unicorn Overlord and Metaphor: reFantazio are my GOTY bets. Both seems offer so much on the game. Trully another good year for jrpg.

The only things im a bit meh on is the UI. The graphical design is great. But in some shots the screen is a bit cluttered. Other being the archetypes designs. I hope they are not all the grey robots like weve seen. As they said there will be more than a 100.

My biggest concern with this is there’s so many different things going on. OJ talks about all the elements positively, but we’ve seen so many games overextend and just crash on arrival. I’m hoping this does well, but I’m definitely not sold yet

I remember when i was in school when Persona 3 came out. Same in college with 5. The anime elements of the school and relationships is what attracted a lot of non gamers to the series. Especially girls. I mean a lot of girls. My girlfriend. All the girls in Orchestra, and Band. Choir. A lot of the cheerleaders. I'll get it for sure though.

It's kind of weird that Atlus didn't bother to make a Switch version, though perhaps it's not too surprising considering that Soul Hackers 2 and Persona 3 Reload didn't arrive on Switch either, but Shin Megami Tensei V / Vengeance and Persona 5 Royal did. I'm sure a lot of people would argue that Atlus is saving a port for the Switch's successor, but both P3R and Metaphor began development back in 2019, when the Switch was on its third year on the market and had alreaddy become a huge success. Don't know why Atlus isn't capitalizing on the Switch's huge installbase and if they truly believe the audience on Nintendo's consoles will gladly wait one or two years until both games releases on their paltform of choice

you now this game will be on microsoft store on pc xbox so game will have claud saves like all sega games or buy on steam and play on pc or steam deck why pc ps5 where save will not transfer you will need to play 2 times game

This game looks very, very good, and I honestly can't wait to play it👍🏿. That said, I don't know about, "game of the year", cause a game like Tears Of The Kingdom, is considered, "game of the year", and I don't like it👎🏿. So we shall see🤷🏿‍♂️

Atlus imo have overtaken Square in jrpgs. imo Atlus makes better jrpgs. i hope they don't screw it up like Square did. keep it japanese!! don't try to appeal to western audiences like Square tried to do.
