1. A/C is not enough for your home. Also get a dehumidifier. Takes away the moisture from the air. Huge difference. 2. Grab an ice pack. Wrap it in a cloth. Put it on your chest. Aim a fan at the ice pack.

@@metaspencer I work in a warehouse and where I live we're hitting up in the 90's-high 80's. I'd really appreciate if you could give me any cooling products I can wear inside a warehouse? I see some on Amazon but they look kinda sketchy or like they wouldn't work.

Thank you so much for this video. I have heat sensitivity like you (but different cause). I've tried a number of things, but this gives me ideas about others that might work better and let me be out in the heat more often rather than trapped at home.

Those cooling towels work great imho. Look at the alfmo one. I also carry with me a water vaporizer, so I am constantly wetting my arms legs and face with it when outside. Works amazingly when there's a slight breeze. What works even better is sunshade - so i wear a wide brimmed hat, and i would carry an umbrella around if it was normal over here.

Neck chillers are the best. Cutting grass in South Georgia. You can die. They help a lot. Keep a small cooler with ice water to dunk it in every 20-30 minutes. It's like heaven.

Trash those plastic bottles!! Get double wall Stainless steel bottles! I bought mine at Costco. They work great. They even have ice in them the next day even sitting in the car overnight!

I have really gotten some great info on keeping myself cooler watching your videos. Thanx for sharing your research. I have got to find a way to keep a little cooler. I really appreciate this video. I am an oxygen user, and I can really do a lot when I have my oxygen backpack, but my back always gets so sweaty and hot in the summers. I'm looking forward to trying some of these guys out! I have a product recommendation, too: We don't have very good AC at home, so it's sometimes really hard for me to sleep at night in the summer. I just bought an Ailemei cooling blanket and I'm loving it! The fabric on both sides is really cool to the touch, but it also has evaporative cooling that works best in dry environments when you have a fan blowing over you. I use the tiny, super quiet Zippi Fan in the bedroom and it provides enough "breeze" for the blanket to do its job!

Hey, I've always wondered if those oxygen cans you can order are any good. Have you ever tried those? Essentially canned oxygen, looks like Computer Duster is the best way I can describe lol.

@@Quillemine I use medical oxygen, which is completely different. As far as I understand, those retail cans might be useful for short term high altitude exertion (over 9000' if you're living at sea level) or partial recovery from various emergencies that would lower a person's oxygen saturation. They're not going to get you to the peak of Mount Everest or anything.

Hey! Thanks for this! I was diagnosed about 1.5 yrs ago and i am starting to navigate it more effectively. I travel to Europe to be with family in the summer. Europe does not do ice or air conditioning and it is hard to find real freezers. Last summer I struggled with heat sensitivity. I’m looking forward to trying the evaporative stuff this year!

Nice tips Metaspencer! I have Dysautonomia (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) so I do not tolerate heat at all. I'm also in Louisiana in 100 degree temps ugh! I fainted today and it is only 85 degrees so I am dreading it. Thanks for sharing

Great Reviews. I love the evaporative vest - in terms of “fashion” - it doesn’t look too obvious. Unfortunately, my intent would be to use it at DisneyWorld with my grandkids. High humidity in FL. So I guess for me….I’d go with the ice pack neck

Thanks for the cool video, I am a pipeline welder in South Texas and I have had kidney failure twice from being in the extreme heat and dehydration, I’ve tried a lot of products like you,Only thing I would tell you to add is what I learned, I drink 1 to 2 coconut waters every single day I’m in the heat because my potassium was so low that’s why I had the kidney failure and the coconut waters , a fan , and umbrella is only thing I would tell you to suggest as I learned from experience, I drink 1 to 2 coconut waters every single day I’m in the heat because my potassium was so low that’s why I had the kidney failure and the coconut waters ( vita-coco -940 MGs of potassium per bottle ) coconut water , Water ,umbrellas , and a fan are the only things that keep me going honestly, thanks again for the cool video

Wow, that sounds like tough work! When I'm welding and overheat, at least I can go inside and get cool. Great tip on the coconut water: I also drink the stuff and find it helps. Hang in there man!

I've been freezing Nalgene bottles for a couple decades now, great trick! One suggestion, I would make though is to freeze it standing up if possible. If you freeze it on it's side the ice hardens to the top and makes it really hard to open.

@@debbiesteffan5293 If you do it right it will be cold for around 8 hours. You have to keep drinking the melted water to last longer. If you leave the melted water in the bottle it will melt the block of ice much faster.

Thank you so much for all the good ideas. I suffer from CIU disease( chronic idiopathic urticaria) and heat triggers it. This will help me a lot in how to deal with it in the summer.

Thank you so much for doing this! I don’t have MS, but I have a serious panic disorder and as I get hot and overheat I can also suffer a panic attack, nausea, vomiting, etc. I will soak my shirts in water while hiking to stay cool. As I live in Arizona now all the evaporation methods would be great as there isn’t the humorist and I too personally stand by the Outdoor Research brand, I actually prefer to wear their light colored sun blocking shirts, I find they help tremendously, I also will hike with an umbrella to block the sun. Additionally, I find that drinking dragonfruit juice cools my body, I think I’ll have to buy a high tech vest though as once I start overheating my anxiety increases 10-fold and it’s difficult to enjoy hiking under those corocumstancss.

Nice video. You might want to read the directions on the Frogg Toggs Chilly Pad.. You're supposed to squeeze the excess water out before you use it. That keeps it fro dripping all over you and helps it cool more with the evaporation. But, of course, you will need to re-wet it more often. Thanks!

Great video!! I live in Georgia and the humidity can be rough. Compression shirts like the white sleeves you show might be my go-to. In order to keep that cool sweat feeling. The super absorbent towels are also amazing. I like to freeze mine too! Like you said though, hydration is the most important!!

I've been trying to figure out ways of building temporary shelters for festivals and such and keeping cool. I've always been super sensitive to heat and sunburn really quickly. I find gauzy fabrics really help to both keep the sun off and keep air circulating. combining some kind of loose, gauzy sweater-type clothing with one of those cooling vests would probably work wonders. Also there's a product designed for bulletproof vests called Tac-Vent that you might find useful. It's simply a shaped pad that goes between the vest and your body and helps provide airflow.

I have a similar issue with my stomach problems and getting hot makes me throw up sometimes. I don't have air conditioning in my truck but I use a cold wet towel and I put it around my neck and into my shirt in the front, like you did in the video. I use a bulky towel and I seen these ice packs and smaller towels in this video and I am going to try a few things. Thanks for sharing this. I have been able to keep my flare up's down with the towel trick and I am no longer going to the hospital and it feels so good that I don't need iv's anymore. It's been about 3 years and before that was 2 years. Some other things set it off as well but I have been on a strict diet as well. It's cyclic vomiting syndrome or cvs for short. I hope everything is going well for you and luckily winter is coming but I still need to keep cool while I am doing anything like household stuff or anything I do.

Thank you ! Way to make yourself feel the best you can to despite dealing with MS . I hope you get to enjoy your life despite the temps . You have some great ideas ! I do construction and some days I have to be in super high heat with insane humidity . The sogginess is real with many products. I’ll try some of your suggestions. I’m tempted to do the neck chillers with a little neck fan running to help circulate air at least. Have you tried the neck Dans with the chillers ? Too. Ad the prices have gone up tremendously since you made this video. Thank you again.

Highly reflective material helps. I use my windshield sun screen to block sun hitting my body if I’m parked in the car. I live in the desert. I just drape it over my legs or wherever. It’s very effective for blocking heat in an emergency. A broad brimmed shade hat helps. I don’t understand baseball caps. It would also be nice to address cooling solutions for female bodies. And of course we could just make “dorky” a fashion statement, just like bicycling gear.😂

Recently I started wearing Arctic Cool Tshirts. They cool as you sweat and they work surprisingly well. I do Lawn Care and Landscaping for my job and on 80+ degree days they work great. One of my co-workers has MS as well and he really like the shirts too. If you are interested in buying them. I'd buy direct from their website since there are some knock off that don't actually cool.

Hydration is a constant struggle in high heat/high humidity especially if you are doing physical work. Don't be surprised if you drink a gallon and your urine is still dark. These products help but certain days and times you need to get inside drink something cold, take a cold bath, and sit in AC.

Medical condition unknown so far. Day time heart rate over 100 Sweat in cool environments. A hard cardio workout I can lose 6 lbs. My job???? I'm a firefighter! The last set of turnout gear we received has spandex layer sold that it seals off outside air protecting the firefighter from being contaminated by carcinitis. I assure you that if I was to wear that gear in the summer I would never die from carcinogens. I have practice my workout in full gear. SCBA 45 minute bottle last me 15 minutes now. And my heart rate reaches 178. Body temperature measurement in ear was 104.5° I never have to worry about dying from carcinogens.

I hate the heat but they offer cooling vests that race car drivers use and a lot of those are battery operated that circulate cool water through a tubing system they help out quite a bit

When you are active outside in the heat, which of the items do you prefer? Do you combine a few wraps with the vest? For example, What would you wear when you are just cutting the grass in 90+ degree weather with high humidity? (This is currently my biggest struggle!). Thanks for the video!

Hey man! I'll try to make another video about the following strategy. Until then, here's what I do: On a hot day (85+ degrees) when I'm going to do work outside or take a walk, here is my current strategy: 1) I start out with my body temp as cool as possible, 2) soak the evaporative cooling vest in very cold water and throw it on (or take it with me in a plastic bag if I'm going to a trail head or something), 3) also bring a liter of ice water or a camelback full of ice water, 4) wear a big ol' sun hat and possibly the white arm sleeves, 5) stay out of the sun while outside, if possible, 5) drink the ice water constantly while I'm out there. When it's up to about 92 or 93 degrees, this tends to give me about an hour of walking or working outside. After that, I'm toast. So doing things in the morning or evening is ideal. Note that the evaporative cooling vest still keeps you kinda cool in high humidity, just due to the fact that it's been chilled in cold water.

@@samiqbal5645 I had several vision problems and have improved a lot by taking a steady amount of vitamin D and following a strict anti-inflammatory diet. Good luck with it! I hope you feel better soon

I'm in Florida and a welder. I got heat exhaustion just last week. From what I gather the ice pack vest would be the way to go here. Any other recommendations?

I've been working in the heat these past few months, though not welding, and my process is to: cool off ahead of time with ice water and a cold shower, keep the sun off me as much as possible, and then use a cooling vest and more ice water when I'm out there. Evaporative vest is better than ice for me, but you might like the ice. The down side of the ice vest for me is that it's thick and doesn't breathe

With the froggs togg , you are meant to wring it out before you put it on your body , it’s not meant to be dripping wet mate , so therefore it would not soak your clothes . Just wanted to point this out to you

Im going to ve working for a foodtruck as an expo gonna hand out food and take orders , nothing phsyically demanding like labor work however i am recovering from cancer 😬 and have m.a.c weak immune system and ACD so i get weak from the heat quick lol So im going to need any suggestions to help anything that can keep me cool outside

Currently living and working in China and the summer heat and humidity is insane. Actually want something I can wear while exercising doing boxing and Muay Thai training. Wonder if a cooling vest could be stand up to a wrestling/grappling class? Currently attending boxing and Muay Thai classes in China as the only Caucasian in the class and the fact I sweat like a water sprinkler is highly embarrassing. Hoping to actually attend a Muay Thai/M.M.A training camp in Thailand in 2023 ; God willing ; and I will definitely need a cooling vest for that. I'm a bit worried about getting things delivered in China.

Yeah, that cools them down and feels good, just not for very long as the sleeves dry quickly. Every little bit helps!

So when I have a bit of an odd question. Do you have any trouble with your face turning red and swelling? I've been having a lot of odd neurological symptoms and I'm wondering if I have multiple sclerosis. I have been to every kind of doctor imaginable. And they can't figure out what's going on with me. Any advice or if you would share your symptoms with me that would be amazing. I just want to know if I'm having similar symptoms. If I could have multiple sclerosis. Thank you for making this video and I'm so sorry you're dealing with what you're dealing with.

Hello, that's an interesting one ... though I'm guessing you'd describe it differently. It's certainly no fun for you! The thing with MS is that there are lots of different symptoms people experience, just because the nervous system is so complex. However, in all of my research and talking with people, I haven't heard of that kind of symptom being associated with MS as it sounds more cardiovascular/circulatory or even immune related. Of course, I could be wrong. The only other thing that occurs to me is that I'm reminded of reading a while back about Idiopathic craniofacial erythema. I'm guessing you've ruled that out, but it's worth mentioning. Anyway: hang in there!

@@SpencersMSStory Wow! Thank you for that. My symptoms have been been confusing to every doctor Ive seen. It orginally started out as long grade fevers and facial flushing. Then, I began having serve joint, nerve, and muscle pain. Followed by debilitating fatigue and extreme heat sensitivity. Then my symptoms evolved further with unexplained weight gain, horrible migraines, horrible tremors, speech/cognitive problems, extreme swelling of my face/neck/stomach/ankles, periodic vision/hearing loss (temporary), and lastly loss of balance. Ive had ct scans, mri's, echocardogram, a stress test, etc. Im now at the point after 3 years of seeing many many doctors at the point I may have to go to the mayo or cleveland clinic. Do any of the symptoms sound like any conditions you have heard of? Thank you so much!

@@TheGrandWhiteWitch Wow, that sounds rough. What a saga you've been through. The Mayo clinic is a great place to go. If you think it might be MS, just see one of their MS specializing neurologists. MS is diagnosed with MRI of brain and spine (looking for lesions) and often a lumbar puncture or spinal tap. Yes, some of these symptoms are familiar to those of us with MS but that doesn't meant that you have MS, as other neurological and physiological issues can cause MS-like symptoms. The last thing I'll say is that preventative self care for you could involve maintaining high/healthy vitamin D3 levels, which is easy to test for and supplement, and following an anti-inflammatory diet. Low stress and rest are also helpful. Hang in there!

I was working in the parking lot of a warehouse this summer, it would get pretty intensely hot with the heat and all the hot engines making the space even hotter. I would stuff my nalgene wtih ice and then top off with water. Use it as an ice pack on my neck and drink from it. Made it go from nearly passing out to bearable

Yeeaaa .. none of these will work in Dubai when you're on a bike and doing deliveries. I wish they invented something for the delivery people. I've been looking for a product that cools and has a long lasting cooling effect in temperatures as high as 43 degree C. If anyone has any recommendations please let me know.
