Here is South Africa, a lot of houses bypass their meters because electricity is expensive due to corruption and cable theft.. it's an endless death loop..

Lots of people offering to "bypass" meters for £400 cash .The trick is NOT to bypass every circuit and have ZERO BILL > Change name of account holder and then drop the use by 70%ONLY max :-)

I mean, technically they've used what looks like 10mm and its likely covered by a 60/80A fuse. Given the short run it'd probably take the flc/take out the fuse. If only they'd left it as a bit of t&e!

An apprentice could do this, it’s extremely crude & being pragmatic, very dangerous as the tails only seem to be 6mm. It would also depend on the meter you’ve fitted, if it’s a smart meter it’s not worth it. If it’s digital there’s a “chip”, if it’s a dumb meter then something like this would be ideal, if it were wired behind the board & passed though to an MCB so you can switch it on & off in the event of an inspection.

@r3co0 In which country? In the UK for Electricians caught doing it for others. Its upto £30,000 fine and jail sentence possibly upto 5 years. If the sparks you know who've done this are in the UK. Then they're very fucking dumb.

Personally I would use a PWM device to bypass a % to set the price back to "normal"... :P

@@notme1345 Essentially use a high power dimmer switch to bypass current only "sometimes". So instead of 100% of current bypassing the meter, the dimmer would only let 10-20% of the sinewave to bypass the meter. If the meter only monitors the live, it's easy to do, but if the meter checks both live and neutral, it gets a bit tricky... you'd need to PWM both live and neutral and it has to be synchronized... Noone makes devices like that.

@@notme1345 they’re over complicating the situation. This should be done behind the board & wired to an MCB on the CU. That way yips as simple as flipping an MCB so bypass the meter. Sometimes the simplistic approaches are the best, especially to avoid suspicion.

@@dimitar4y No untrained people sticking cables and screwdrivers (probably uninsulated) into unprotected 100a cutouts is what will kill people mate. I'm no fan of energy companies far from it, but this sort of shit shouldn't be encouraged. Most people can barely fit a 13a plug properly they shouldn't be messing around with 80/100a supplies.

One of the reasons why this is so dangerous, is there is no protection for you should you be electrocuted. In your house you are protected by your MCB, RCD etc. Bypassing this, means that you are protected by a 60/80/100amp slow blow fuse. Which in turn is protected at the local substation. If you electrocute yourself whilst bypassing your meter, would will suffer serious injury at best, at worst it will kill you. I've no idea how we are all going to afford these crazy energy prices, but please stay safe everyone. Is it worth dying for?
