I'm a 25 year old 4 year addict, still in addiction. I love my parents to death. It kills me to see the mental anguish they go through seeing me, their only son, ruining my physical and mental health. Im not going to give up though. I'll either get sober, or I'll die from a heart attack. Those are my 2 options, and the ladder isn't too far away. Going on my 3rd week of daily use. Longest I've ever went without breaks. As someone who has always had incredible will power, will power is just not enough for this. During the 1st year of my addiction I thought I had found to cure to my life. It's hard to accept that I will never experience that ever again.

Watching in Memory of my very 1st Cousin, James. He was an alcoholic for many many years. Functioning, if there really is such a thing. We knew he was not doing well, just not the why. Thought he got sick, lost his place, living in his car, a month in jail. $ was given in love, over and over. But we did not know that he had added meth into the mix. Surrounded by people who used him for whatever he had left. A year ago this month he hung himself. I try not to think about those last moments. Still wish I could just go scoop him up and save him. We lost our Papa to Alzheimer’s in 2020, then Uncle Tim 8 days later from Covid in 2021, and then James in 2022. Three generations Father, son, son. Gone. Miss them so much. Holding on to the believe they will be right there in heaven waiting for us. No one can handle meth, it handles U. Please decide U want a different ending and a better life. Then find a way to do the work with professionals. Save yourself, and you’ll also save your village, who do Love you so

I really think y'all might be surprised to find out how many users present as "normal" people you interact with on a daily basis. They could be your respected neighbor, your co-worker, ur waitress at the restaurant, etc. I'm not trying to say it is not dangerous or that it doesn't destroy your life. It can & will! Im.just saying sometimes it ain't so easy to see the signs in some people & they're able to keep it hidden so well. my husband's behavior never changed. I never even suspected it. He never picked his face. Didn't lose weight. Kept his job. Paid the bills. Nothing noticeable ever changed with him. No one in his life suspected it. No one.

It is also important to know that Bipolar 1 disorder with psychotic features can greatly resemble methamphetamine abuse in the manic phase. I am lucky enough to have both bipolar 1 disorder with psychotic features and a history with methamphetamine and heroin addiction (Proud to be almost six years clean now). The unfortunate thing about this is that every time I've had a manic episode, everyone automatically assumes that I have relapsed. It is important to not accuse someone of using methamphetamine if you aren't one hundred percent sure or close to it. When I had my first manic episode, everyone was very quick to assume that I was using again which caused a significant delay in getting medical intervention. The manic episode kept progressing and I eventually went into full blown psychosis with constant auditory hallucinations, paranoid delusions, and a whole bunch of other fun stuff that I only half remember experiencing. It took me landing in the psych ward for my friends and family to believe me. I know it can be hard or sometimes impossible even to fully trust someone who has addiction history, but if they suddenly start to show any signs of psychosis, they need help immediately, no matter what caused it. Psychosis and Mania can both be very dangerous or even fatal for the sufferer if it goes unchecked for long enough. Even if it does end up being from meth or recreational stimulants, its important to remember that psychosis is a legitimate medical emergency.

I started using meth to give me focus and get through the days. In the beginning and after the initial euphoria, it made me very functional and no one suspected. That effect wore off after a year and then it started to make me just sit for hours, binge watching KZfaq, series and movies. The lack of sleep sapped my energy and made me completely dysfunctional and a hypersomniac. No weight loss, no bizarre psychosis - Ive recently stopped…

Hi Lesa U, that’s heartbreaking, it must be very hard. Help has to come in the form of all the practical things. Keep bottled water and energy drinks to keep the boys hydrated. Have food around when they wake up from a long sleep and are crashing. Try to get them to take supplements and vitamins - all the B complex vitamins , vitamin C, zinc, magnesium and citicoline which is an anti-inflammatory for the brain, a dopamine precursor and assists repair of neurotransmitters. Users can easily become defensive and paranoid as I’m sure you are aware and they are prone to mood swings. It’s best not to show anger and try to avoid conversations that might make them feel alienated or judged. So you also need to be aware of tone and body language. Set your own rules and boundaries, you want to be kind and supportive without letting the boys think that you are a pushover or worse, an enabler. The decision to get clean has to come from the user. Some users have a mildly unpleasant experience and seek help, others have to hit rock bottom before they come to a realization. Imploring them to stop will only exacerbate their guilt or trigger that rebellious switch the got them to use. I hope this helps.

Never had an issue always kept my credit up FICO score in the 700s never lost a day of work. I stopped because I became a father and that’s the ultimate high to me. now I don’t even drink. He was gone the week before & came home Worst Behavior I've ever seen. 😪😪😪. When your child is under the influence of Drugs, that's not your child 😒 it's the Demonic Spirit that comes from the Drugs. The behaviors he displayed last week, scared me so much, left my home & called the Police. They gave him 2 options: you can go to Jail of go admit yourself to the Hospital for a Mental Evaluation. He's still there and trying to get out!!! I'm Praying for him & I told him Not to Contact me. Ms.Morris, this is my only child & I'm afraid he might hurt me when he's under the influence of Drugs. Intervention, talk to him one and one, and find out why he’s using. Usually if a person using, it’s because he’s or she is depressed or using it for some sexual activity that give them that high they want but if mostly to get the feeling that they feel they can’t get from society. Most importantly get him into rehab. Hopefully he gets the help that he needs to get out it. I’m battling with this as well so I hope your kid gets to a healthy road to sobriety

I have a friend that does pot, edibles, shrooms and meth. In fact, I asked once, have we ever been together where you haven’t been on some substance and he said no. He’s so casual about the whole thing. Yet, I feel he wants me to know. Almost like a passive aggressive way of asking for help. I have no idea how much money he spends. Lately he has smoked meth in front of me twice. Once on FaceTime and in person. I don’t say anything....he knows I don’t approve. But, I feel I’m an enabler.
@jenniferv618
@jenniferv618 3 жыл бұрын
Have you ever spoke to your friend about them stopping? I don't think you are acting as an enabler because you don't _give_ them money for it or rides to get it. You are just there hanging with them while they are high. But now that they are doing it in front of you, I'd definitely say something to them. If they choose not to quit then I would ask them not to do drugs directly in front of you because you don't like it. If they are real friends high or not, they will respect your wishes! There's a saying "You are who you hang with" & you don't want people to start thinking you use drugs because that will happen if you hang with someone who openly does!! Good luck!!

@@DrBAddictionRecovery I wish I had you as my doctor. My doctor immediately cut me off my suboxone for coming up with a dirty urine with meth. She would not listen to me at all and prescribed me what she wanted not what I needed. I'm 56 yrs old and been dealing with bipolar and ADHD for almost 40 yrs. It started with post portem depression and got worse from there on. My opiate abuse/addiction came from pain management. Fentynal patches with percocet for break through pain. I haven't had any opiate cravings at all, but I still need my stimulant to even get out of bed and not be suisidal. I was prescribed Adderall on and off in my life and I felt most productive and self worth when proscribed it. Before my pain management I was taking Adderall for almost 8yrs straight and. Did great. I earned my certified peer specialist certification. And obtained employment with it and kept that job for 6yrs. longest job in all my life. No doctor in my area will prescribe Adderall to me. So I do a tiny bit of meth each morning and am able to enjoy my 4 grandbabies on a daily basis when I can afford to buy it once a month sometimes. If I can't I'm worthless and hopelessly depressed. I don't leave my room or bed, I don't shower for week at a time. I have many suicidal thoughts, crying myself to sleep praying to God not to let me wake up.

One clear sign for me is collecting stuff. Not hoarding, just constant collection of junk they fiddle with all night long. I know many ppl on meth. They think everyone is stealing from them. I've seen up close meth induced psychosis. They also tend to try and find a depressant to put themselves to sleep after being up for days. I see the rage when they don't have meth. We have tried everything, there is no talking to her, we paid $60,000 for rehab for 2 months. That didn’t work, waste of money. Your just making them rich, and walking out broke! The system in place is for paying customers, if you can’t afford rehab, you go on the waiting list, by the time they call u a year later your dead!!!!! That’s how it works here in Canada! So what do we do for those military children that were put on Ritalin and other psychotics back in the 90s and 00s because mental health providers and teachers didnt understand ADD/ADHD and then meds were continued for 10+ years and then stopped or they were dropped from insurance and couldn't acquire prescriptions? ADD/ADHD meds are a few components away from actual methamphetamine so why aren't we as parents and educators not given that information? Just that it will help their focus and hyperactivity and could potentially make them lose weight. Do you feel the influx of meth use is due to people that were prescribed or had access to these meds and no longer do and then turn to meth?

Y'know... my brother, about 6 months ago, started dating this girl. Soon he began acting different. Like he had another personality. That was angry and verbally abusive. He was already a "functioning" alcoholic who drank beer at night, but he knew to stay away from liquor. So I assumed it was the liquor. Then he got arrested for coke. Which made sense because he was previously dating a coke addict. So, I was like maybe it's the coke and/or liquor. Today he finally was sober enough that I got to talk to my actual brother for the first time in 6 months. During this talk he mentioned something I had been suspecting. That the girl he had been seeing was doing meth. He told me before he suspected her of secretly doing something. But it was not until now that he said it was meth. Before I had only suspect the same, myself. So, now i'm thinking he was actually doing meth. But who knows. It could be just coke too, I guess. But I did coke before for a couple years and don't remember acting like that. I had many friends doing it too and none of them acted that way. So, in 6 months he got fired, never got another job, quit his hobbies, got a DUI, got arrested for coke, crashed his car, pissed off all his family and friends, lost over 60 pounds, changed personalities, became verbally abusive, talked 100 mph, never let anyone speak, started bossing people around on the phone, demanding that they "just listen!" He called me 300 times in 2 months! He became a literal Mr. Hyde. He got evicted but is still living there for now... I dunno if it's meth or just the coke, but now that he said she was doing meth it's making more sense to think he was too. Now I have more studying to do.

I had to call 911 two nights ago at Fred Meyer because a man ripped his shirt off, was running with a knife, and acted like he was going to cut himself. He was standing and staring at a display in housewares for a long time and police had no problem apprehending him except for him yelling, “WHAT THE HELL, MAN?” He knocked something off a shelf and it shattered. Does that sound like meth?

How do you help someone in addiction with meth that doesnt know their in addiction with methand cant see the issue because their mind isnt there to ubderstand they need help? We are seeing extreme psychosis, 3 to 4 days of no sleep, violence, etc. His gf thought cocaine was okay to use and encouraged the use with him and then he must have gotten cocaine mixed and is now hooked. The family really needs guidance on getting help for him before its too late. Any suggestions are welcomed.

It’s either meth or mania. VERY similar to my bipolar hypomania.

A long-time, once very close friend of mine recently passed away under suspish circumstance. This person moved away from friends & family. Before that, the behavior was strange. Off. By social media it was clear she was moving from place to place & not keeping a job. Lost a crapload of weight. Looked 10 yrs older than actual age within a period of a yr or 2. Never would tell anyone what's up. Denied drug use. Was found dead at 39 by god knows whoever went to check on her at this place she was living looked like living out of a bedroom. All selfies were in this room. Like the last 30+ pics posted within the last yr and a half were all on a bed. Even food pics... plate on a bed. Would make and cancel plans to meet up with friends from back home. The only thing i know is that dehydration was "the cause of death" supposedly.

I had suspected drug use when she posted a long, rambling video to fb as she was being evicted from her place here in town. She was wild eyed, no makeup (VERY unusual for her) and talking 90 miles an hour about random crazy sh*t. Go off on side notes, and carry the camera all over her half empty apt. Just really really strange behavior for her.

ecstasy makes the users eyes do that. not ever seen it in meth users but it could be that maybe. i wouldn't discount it.

How can I stop someone from using crystal meth or even cocaine?
@reinapatricia6717
@reinapatricia6717 2 жыл бұрын
The only thing you can do is confront them and ask if they're using,they may or may not tell you. If they say they are,ask them if they would like to stop. If they don't want to stop, you can't do anything about it,but get counseling for yourself, like Ala non,which is generally for loved ones of people who have an alcohol addiction, but the program works for people who have loved ones addicted to drugs,their is a group called Nar Anon, which is a group for people who have loved ones addicted to drugs. These groups help you deal with your loved one who is addicted to drugs,remember you can change yourself, but you can't change them,they have to want to get clean for themselves. It's not easy watching your loved one be addicted to drugs,sometimes if they won't get help,you have to walk away from them. I'm in the process of walking away from my boyfriend, bc he's using coke or meth. You have to practice tough love letting them deal with their addiction on their own,sometimes they want help and get help. We have to remember we can not enable them,meaning, give them money, let them continue doing drugs or doing drugs around you or in your home. You also have to be careful bc they might steal money from you to support their addiction. I hope that helps and I'm praying your loved one gets help and finally kicks their addiction.
