I think blizzard was experimenting with alternative lose conditions. So many people complain about bosses that just one shot you or one shot the entire raid, how they feel bad and are unrecoverable. On Jaina if you fuck up, instead of dying, you double your stacks and your damage intake, or at worst get blocked and lose 1m damage on the boss. This could have been a much more difficult mechanic if stacks did less damage, stacked faster, and the fight actually went through several mirror images. I don't think blizzard expected the raid to just yolo the boss and kill it before anything actually happens, despite the yolo strat being exceedingly difficult on its own; the real way to kill the fight seems mathematically impossible. If they added some countermeasures such as the frost elemental putting frost armor on jaina (-50% damage taken) and reduced frozen stack damage a bit, along with making mirror images more immediately threatening the fight could have been a lot better. The raw damage the frozen stacks put out is reminiscent of the absolutely absurd damage KJ did on his release.

I think Rastakhan should have been a 100-150 pull boss, maybe not Jaina hard though.

@@kungozaimethodjoshhighligh9467 Rasta fight is him AND Bwonsamdi, so no, imho he should have been almost or just as hard. Granted, for lore reasons, Bwonsamdi wanted Rasta dead, but then still, Bwonsamdi should be far more powerful than Jaina, even if he was half assing it.

@@enlightendbel I think the ship has sailed on boss difficulty and lore being tied together. I think boss difficulty should be based on what the boss represents in the raid. And Jaina is the last boss. That one should allways be the hardest. Rastakhan is the last Horde boss in there, so I think there is an argument for making him a roadblock aswell, purely because he represents the end of a wing of the raid. But if i am being honest, i would still much prefer a completely progression based system for difficulty where boss 1-3 is 5 or less pulls for a serious guild, boss 4-6 is 10-20 pulls with boss 6 maybe being 25-30 ish and then the numbers have to start ramping for every boss. 7 should be 80-100 and so forth with the last boss totaling something like 300-400 pulls.

@@kungozaimethodjoshhighligh9467 How about a fork style fight? You can chose to go left to 2 bosses and Rasta or Left to 2 bosses and Jaina. Have to complete both sides to finish the raid. But both wings are tuned the exact same difficulty. Even if team comp is done and gear is farmed to complete one wing, it's not said that comp and gear are in any way suitable to beat the other wing. It would make everything far more interesting. And yes, from what I said you probably can understand I fundamentally disagree with you that a raid should be a boss to boss progression. It doesn't have to be and it would be refreshing if it wasn't.

Or, even more interesting, having raids where you get to split the raid in 2 10 man groups to attack different boss encounters. Going in with 20 man makes it murder all instantly. Going in with 10 makes it doable. Use the "faction swap" mechanic they used in this raid to "spec swap" one person in the group from a DPS to a tank class not forcing the guilds to swap in full on tanks. Man, if I was an encounter designer for WoW, things would be wild and interesting. I've been thinking about mechanics they already used and have shown to be functional in the game in innovative ways in possible new encounters and even though this raid was already far more interesting than a lot of the previous ones, they can go soooooo much further.

Basically he's asking the bosses to be like FFXIV savage/Ultimate raid level punishing. It would change the WoW Mythic raid scene quite a bit

@@enlightendbel Are you referring to Suzaku Extreme? That's an extreme trial and not a raid. They are very different beasts. If you want a series of cool mechanics and difficulty, look up O4S Neo Exdeath. Or the current final raid boss Final Omega aka O12S

Also, the Unending Coil of Bahamut (the first Ultimate raid of FFXIV) didn't have a world first clear for almost an entire month after release. That's the difficulty Josh is wishing existed. The fight also syncs your Item level so it is physically impossible to overgear the fight. it requires perfect execution for 18 min and rewards you with the coolest transmog and titles in the game

I want to point out that them saying the raid was undertuned, and what if they actually tune the fights for how they think it should be tuned to... they would have never got world first on stream and it would literally impact and affect what they exactly did.

Is it not possible that Blizzard had "bugs" that got "fixed" after Method got there to give Method the chance ? If the bugs weren't there Limit would have gotten 1st right? I don't know really, this may be common, and a little conspiricyish, but is it not possible Blizzard wants Method to get the world first? I dunno. It just sounded weird to my ear.

Stormwall absolutely had a bug that limit was afraid to kill it with because they would have gotten insane amounts of shit from the community. Also yes it benefits blizzard enormously to have world first be streamed.
