@@Stink168 well to be fair, producers usually use sound design to build/improve onto whatever beat is used. So technically it is an art. Where as best making is more of a rhythmic pattern

@@meetyomaker2396 sound designing is a whole other category bro. I doubt a producer has time to sit around and create actual sounds. I look at a “producer” as the loud nigga in the room saying “aye put that bass note in like this” excep they usually have hella connections or got plugged in at some point. No producer started off “producing” they usually started off as beat makers or DJs and learn to input more creative direction as they gain experience. The real GOAT is the engineer. As a beat maker I’m not ashamed to say the most important piece to creating music would be a dope engineer. Everything you hear touched their hands last. They even tweak the beats or give the artist creative direction, especially during the arrangement phase. The “producer” usually is the one that sits folks down with different talents and usually those artists will brainstorm and create.

I agree with the effort a producer puts in but you're underestimating how difficult it can be to actually make good beats besides that not every producer writes or makes hooks or makes it radio Friendly. Especially in hip hoo people write their own shit, make their own hooks and the lables take care of publishing.

@jon "wife beater" jones true, we all have a diff process. When I started, we barely had any sample time at all. Ppl today don't know how easy they have it. Old drum kits, the 909, tons of vinyl and a big old synth. I miss those days.

I like your example but anyone who has any input on the production of a project is a “producer” The cinematographer is a producer cause they creat and “produce the image and flow of the film” The prop department, the musical score directors, the sound guys are all technically producers, film aggregators are producers cause they produce a product to the studios! anyone apart of the creative/marketing process is a producer!!! I simply don’t understand how a “beat maker” which is the bread and butter of music production isn’t consider a producer when he’s literally producing the sound rhythm and tonality of the song!!!
