The other method is such huuuuge CHEESE if pulled off successfully, but last time I checked (years ago, on a Metroid Wiki from Wikia IIRC), that other method was patched out for the European, US, and other later releases.

@@Spiralredd You need to know the location of the Yellow Herbs, choose weapons wisely (Fully Upgraded Handgun and Shotgun, Semi Automatic Sniper and the Broken Butterfly are enough to handle everything) and be a master of the knife. The hardest part of that game is crown control, so having a shotgun is a must basically or being too precise with the rifle.

According to the wiki: "In the message, Adam is impressed by Samus's technique to skip the Diffusion Missiles. A shadowy figure presumably working for the Galactic Federation appears to congratulate her as well and wants to reward her by telling Samus about the Federation's secret program. However, Adam states this is unwise, and prevents the figure from doing so, telling Samus to continue her mission. This is foreshadowing the Metroid breeding program."

Juan Galan Actually it's both, the running is the Speed Booster while the charged up jump is the Shinespark, but "Charged Speed Booster Jumping Combo" sound kinda lame, so lets do the Shinespark again!

To be fair I'm pretty certain the name's an homage (and probably the Japanese coined it for this move) to Getter Robo. The Getter Robo G and Shin Getter Robo were capable of engulfing themselves in their energy (Getter Energy) and launching it (or themselves) in an attack known as the "Shine Spark". So while in NA it probably was 'coined' here, odds are the Japanese were calling it "Shine Spark" well in advance.

I'd rather Mercury steam put in the sort of rewards that other Metroid games have in them for difficult sequence breaks, rather than putting in a patronizing "Aw, how cute. you thought you could have some agency in the path you take through this game." Maybe I'd accept an easter egg like this more if it doesn't do something like lock the door to the nav room so you can actually break the sequence and get tangible rewards for it.

The direct specifically stated that Adam would only be there as a "hint and lore" companion, rather than a CO like he was in Fusion and Other M. So no linear objectives and stuff

Harlot McWanker it's only when I played this game recently (and shortly after playing Super Metroid), that I realised how much more powerful the GBA was than the SNES. It only lacked resolution. I wasn't expecting such an immersive experience from a handheld game!

The best satisfying sound in this game is when you're fighting the plant boss to get the plasma beam and you time it right with its shot then dodge then missile it makes a pretty good beat lol

Edit: found out GBA didn't have a sound chip. I wish the GBA sound chip was a little more like the SNES. Sometimes the sound is kind of sharp with the little speakers.

@@MegaMato It didn't even have a dedicated sound chip like the SNES, unfortunately... the sound FX and music were processed by the CPU and then sent to the DAC to generate sound output.

@@dakotastein9499 you have to carefully time your space jump and angle your missile to shoot the enemy that blocks your path. It's arguably harder than just doing the shinespark method.

It already is. If you bought the 3DS when it first came out BEFORE the price drop, you would be part of the 3DS Ambastitor program and receive 10 free NES games and 10 free GBA games. Now before anyone complains about this being unfair, this was nintendo's way of compensating those (like myself) that paid full price for the system when it first came out. (Back when the ONLY good game on the system was Pilotwings and all the other ones were being delayed)

That is a fair point but the could at least bring it to the 3DS eshop

the thing is the 3DS can barely handle GBA games on the virtual console. that's the sole reason they made the New 3DS. if you don't know what I mean compare the Wii U and the 3ds Virtual console. the Wii U VC you can use the internet or miiverse without closing the game. however on the 3DS if you use anything else it forces you to close the VC game. this is because the specs of the 3DS can't really handle the emulation software. Nintendo discovered this only after they released the 10 GBA games to ambasitors. they were originally going to have tons of VC games, but after they gave the 10 exclusive ones, they found out about the emulatior issue. this is why you won't see this game on 3DS eshop.

Krukmeister I think you freezed the Powamp enemie in front of the data room, where you collected the Diffusion Missiles. Right? But this works only in the american version. (or in the English version. I'm not sure)

Well Fusion came out 2003, KZfaq wasn't till 2005 and even then I doubt this was the first thing that popped in people's head when coming to make a KZfaq video back then. That adds more years. Players had their shot to figure it out themselves and it wasn't in the official game guide

Yea there are 2 shinespark way harder than this ine in zero mission the first is to get super Missiles in that place where you can get the super grip too the other is in the space pirates mother ship to get an energy tank

Speaking of Zero Mission, did you know you can make it so you don’t trigger the small gate closing when fighting Mother Brain? You just need to make enough sprites load in as the gate counts as a sprite. I believe it takes about 65 loaded sprites, Mother Brain included, to do this. This way, you can actually take an alternate escape route. Be warned however, that the alternative escape method is very hard to perform as well, since you have to use shinespark a couple times. A TAS bot was able to do it in normal mode, having only a few seconds left on the timer.

+Miltenacious Or just get aq PC controller. You can get some for like $10-$20. Not the best analog sticks, but still good enough, especially for d-pad games
