Amateur video work and amateur hobby machinist. Videos of me working on various projects in the workshop and around the home. Work using my Vevor MX400 Mini Lathe and Precision Matthews PM-25MV Benchtop Milling Machine.

Thanks, I too have been guilty of not using more of my precise tooling but will be as time goes on. I want to learn the proper way to measure and use these instruments. All part of the hobby for me.

very nice. the V blocks are better because most liking these are made in one long bar, machined and cut to size. 1-2-3 is probably done the same but when then the holes are done, they go to a different station, so introducing human error not keeping pairs.

The float of something flat and clean on the surface plate is very satisfying, even the cheap granite and tooling feel smooth as. Dont forget to zero the height gauge on the plate too, it always helps. The 3 foot idea for the home-made base is good, then lap the feet flat to each other. Cool vid mate 👍👌🇦🇺

Thanks, Agree its very satisfying when you can feel the plate is clean and the instruments are gliding across the surface. I really should have zeroed it on the plate. I did do this at one point but I must not have recorded that or did it off camera. Inspection is very interesting...I also hope to get into lapping at some point. I know you have shared a channel where he does a lot of lapping and getting excellent finishes on his aluminum. Cheers.

Hey Deez if you want to improve your stand i would mill the center of the bottem out to leave feet about 1/16" tall in the corners about 3/8" or 1/2" square, no high spots to worry about

3 point contact is always solid. Lap on glass.

Important thing with is really accuracy of V'S. Check with dowel pins
