Bought a set for my grandson's Birthday next week, figured I'd better learn the rules because he tends to make up his own rules! 😩 Now I can't wait to play! Thank You for your time and work on this 👍.

This was a great teaching video. It was helpful to see it as a real game and the explanation of the options of each player on their turn. I have watched twice so far. I will be playing tomorrow with my granddaughter....so I am going to watch it again. Thank you !!!

Hey, great video. My family just got into this game and we were watching videos to learn how to play. I must compliment you on your tutorial because of all the work you put into explaining the game, moving from player to player allowing us to see from every vantage point. I think this is some major house rules. In the rules with the game you place only one domino tile each turn, only exception after doubles. You don't start playing multiple tiles on your train, only one.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to do this teaching video. I bought my set two years ago but could not understand the rules. So I gave up. You did a fantastic job explaining the setup and rules. I’ve watched several videos but none compared to yours. I actually got it!! Thank you, thank you! I did have to watch your teaching skills several times but now I feel comfortable and have the confidence to explain how to play. I truly appreciate you. ( I’ll keep you near when we start,……..just in case😅)

The games comes from the Chinese domino game called Pai Gow. Chineese that emigrated to Cuba brought the game their, the Cuban brought the game to American where it got the name Mexican dominions and the rest is history.

A player can play all his dominos on the 1st turn if possible then all the other players get to play their 1st turn before the game ends. If you play a double on your 1st play and don't cover it, the other players get their 1st turn before they have to cover your double on the next turn. If a domino can be played it must be played.

This was very helpful! Didn't the first player have a double at the end of his/her turn that wasn't satisfied? After the game was won and the other players had one more turn, I would have thought that the player with the double 2 would have had to play it - rather than having the option to take the 4 points.

He explained that you can play it but then he wouldn’t be able to cover it and might end up with more points in the end OR you can choose to NOT play the double 2s which would end your turn but you would only end with 4 points. He chose to not play the double 2s so there isn’t a double on the board that needs to be covered by other players first. If he did play it then yes, other players would have to play on that double 2 to satisfy it.

At 13.54 into your demo (right before starting the starting the Mexican Train), you say you could have started "Mr. Blues Train"? Is that permitted, would he NOT get to play multiple opening dominoes train?

The written instructions I have indicate that a player can start another player's train but cannot play multiple dominoes on that train.

The video was great! I haven't played in quite a few years. I am hosting a party and going to have everyone play, I have sent the link for the video. I guess it would be too much for you to have a cheat sheet with the "rules". If not, I am going to write them up, in case someone has played and there are different rules. I don’t have a cheat sheet for rules. But basically: Each round starts with “double xx” On your first turn, you can play as many dominoes as you want. If doubles are played, they have to be “covered”. If you don’t have any dominoes that can be played, then draw a domino; if you still can’t play then you need to put your train “up” which makes it fair game for others to play on. You can only play on your train, the Mexican train, or on another persons train if their train is “up.” You can only take your train “down” when you play a domino on your train but you don’t have to play on your train. First person to run out of dominoes is basically the winner of the round; the other players have 1 turn to try to play. When the round is over, each dot on your remaining dominoes is 1 point (double blank = 50pts.). You don’t want points.

Can you win if your last one is a double?

You’ll have to cover it. The only way for a win to be a double is if it’s the very last domino.

Can you play on another train if available even if you didn’t start your own train? If not, do you keep picking up tiles at your turn until you can start a train. I never got a starting tile before someone won the round.

What I know is that you make it public for others to start your train. I was also looking for the answer to this same question and that is what I learned from other videos.

At 13:50 in, you state you could have started blues train. If you did that would blue lose his first turn run?

But isn't drawing a domino when you can play cheating? It would be akin to not playing a card in Rumoli because you knew the other guy had the 7-8-9. Also, isn't the 50 point blank a house rule? I could not find that in other instructions.
