I think team JPN is dedicating to "Tsunagu", meaning prioritize to take one base no matter what, rather than aiming for a big home run, trusting following players do the same. From the 1st batter to 9th batter, they did what they can do for the team. Great team!!

The youngest Japanese-born player to break the record with his 56th homer last season (2022). Japan's whole roster would win in any division in the MLB right now lol. This kind of talent is appreciated and needed for baseball.

Broke ,my heart to see Mexico lose , but this was an incredible game. To bad that most of the United States isn’t paying attention. My local sports radio was talking sh-t about this tournament. This should happen every two years, with a slightly longer tournament. I expect mlb to ruin this , I hope I am wrong .

Nootbaar said his homestay in Japan in 2009, and watching that year's Koshien (The most amazing year in modern history - NYY Masahiro Tanaka loses to Yuki Saito) became a big part of his love for Japanese baseball. Like Lars' mom said. This WBC might just be the Koshien that he never got to take part in. (edit: Saito and Tanaka faced off in 2006 )

I think you mean 2006 where Masahiro Tanaka dueled Yuki Saito at Summer Koshien. 2009 Summer Koshien is when Chukyodai Chukyo had a 10-4 lead in the 9th inning in the final before Nihon Bunri rallied to cut the deficit to 1 with the tying run on third. Chukyodai managed to hold off Nihon Bunri to win Koshien after forcing the final batter to line out to third.

It's so intresting to see how the fantastic Japanese people like you, congratulate and thank my country (Mexico) for the incredible game these titans gave us. On the other hand, A Rod and Big Papi don't mention a single thing about the achievments of Mexico in the game and during the entire tournament. Honestly I'm not surprised, unfortunately this is the cheap jeleaus mentality of many latinos.

Oh man you could practically feel the nervousness coming off the Japanese fans this game with their team playing behind for about 75% of the game, especially in the crowd shots at the end seeing them utterly drenched in sweat despite the nice weather. 😅😂

@Orca soccer is still reported as the most watched in korea, but koreans are historically better at baseball so there can be just as much emotion if not more when korea does well.

@orca708 In my opinion, Korea National Soccer match >> KBO > K league(soccer) > etc. KBO has the most viewers in regular season of sports but poor performance in WBC, the number of viewers of K-league has dramatically grown in weeks.

I am Japanese, but Mexico is a very strong team that defeated Puerto Rico, and it was a very exciting match. I am honored to be able to play against the United States in the championship game that will decide the best in the world.

I’m a football fan (soccer in American terms) and this tournament reminds me of the World Cup, but with respect the World Cup is levels above the WBC. This tournament is not some “glorified exhibition” match it’s an actual tournament and has the best baseball players from all over the world representing their country. It’s totally different than playing for their domestic team because playing for their country means that the players have the whole country behind their backs and the pressure for them is immense. This is amazing for baseball because the more exposure the better and kids will get to see how baseball is fun and will hopefully be more involved in playing the sport.
