Using Meyer's cross without the cross. For those of yoiu who have trouble remebering the cross sequence. As usual sorry for the sound. But I hope this is useful.

Sir, I'm not as familiar with Meyer's square as I should be; are the three sweeps and the zwerchhau that book-end the drill original to Meyer's manuscript, or are they a convention of yours?
@LondonLongsword8 жыл бұрын
Should be three upwards slashes then a finish with thwart yes.:)

Hi Dave, will you be sharing this to the Facebook study group? Always been interested in applying the German stuff to greatswords, because there seems to be a conspicuous lack of German material directly on greatsword. This is valuable stuff :)

When you say "make the shape broad" do you mean the guard, the posture of your arms, what?

Good video. You should invest in a lavalier microphone.

where did you get that sword from?

Well three months down the line you probably found out yourself, but if anyone else watching this is wondering: he's got a review of the sword on his channel. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/maeRp8ySsdS-f40.html

The traffic noise makes it difficult to hear what you're saying, at times completely drowning you out. Perhaps you could record without sound, and do a voice-over later?
@deathsythelui8 жыл бұрын
Voice over later would be a stellar idea, and an easy fix for the sound problems here. Good idea.

a good plan, which I will do if time allows:)

or you could add subtitles to the video.

And you do not have a video of fencing with a one and a half sword (Spanish technique) of times of reconquest and already by 1512?
@beegum18 жыл бұрын
Could really use an accessory video of you doing these at half and full speed both exaggerated and close to the body or subtle, can remember how you said but did mention it, lol, to be good educational material.

Wouldn't those movements after the cut telegraph the next attack?
@mrutadasing51737 жыл бұрын
Dmitri Karamazov it's a practice drill not a duel in a duel u fight how u fight in this what he is demonstrating is a practice routine t learn to handle and swing ur sword correctly

Hi Dave, this might be a stupid question, but why would you train with your left hand as the lead? assuming your right handed. Thanks. :D
@LondonLongsword8 жыл бұрын
I fight both left and right handed.:)
@Judicial787 жыл бұрын
Meyer said you should train both sides equally.
@KnightSquire7 жыл бұрын
What do you mean by sides? Changing your forehand from right to left if your right handed? I can't find any sources on that... Can you link me them. :)
@Judicial787 жыл бұрын
KnightSquire There are pictures of certain techniques that demonstrate the need to change hand positions. My comment was more referring to cutting from both sides, not with both hands I misread sorry for the confusion.

That's what I thought you meant, thanks for confiming. :)

montantes are very nice weapons, but is not for all types of fightings! We made a training montante out bamboo and I discovered that was way too long to me.

Meh still not a fan of Meyer stuff. In an actual fight it always comes down to 90% Ringeck for me cause that stuff works. Meyer stuff looks fancy though and is a nice training drill for general coordination etc.
@manlysponge7 жыл бұрын
I think that's with every fencing style though. I'd say that just knowing the ins and outs of guards and basic cuts easily gets anyone through a fight. All the fancy techniques/plays are, as you said, just good for co-ordination. EDIT: Not all fancy techniques, but definitely most are basically window dressing.
