I have a 1080 2wd with FEL, rebuilt engine to 2018 specs, used a 1085 block as mine was welded up, starts at the touch of the switch, mostly restored as i use it, i have to try out the no clutch method, mine has 4800 hours on it, has a rebuilt cab so no rust inside, opening doors both sides as well as both side front and rear windows, most parts have been galvanized, and a tip, i did a minor mod to the air filter housing to accept the latest Donaldson filter, which can take a PreFilter as well, and my hydraulic rear rock shaft lift cylinder was broken in the gearbox housing, damaged before i bought the tractor, rear arms never been fitted, so i got a new one from a later model, with a lot of research, it fitted and works.

The gear changing might seem to be tricky at first try but hope you learn it quick 👍

I own a MF35x upgraded with a 58hp Perkins engine that's currently on the shop for severe maintenance and an MF188 who's just in great shape even though it needs some nip and tack. I think I'm interested in the model you own...

There was one recently for sale on ebay in the UK. Was £13500 or so. Better condition than this atm. Might now be sold, I'm not sure.

how can you change gear without stepping on the clutch?
@MF175mp5 жыл бұрын
That's how we do it, you just adjust the throttle carefully so that you can get the gear speeds match correctly, and get the gear in without violence, the multipower tranny is also a little forgiving so it's a good gearbox to start practising with. I can also drive Eaton Fuller like that but with this little of experience i am not a professional.

On these transmissions are they more prone to "grind" when in low rather then high? It seems like i can not get any gear to go to easy while in low. Trying to figure out if its just my 1080.. or if its all of them... or maybe something simple like changing the free play on the pedal
@MF175mp5 жыл бұрын
If the clutch is correctly adjusted and the thrust bearing is rolling nice and freely, it should not grind the gears. The gears rotate at same speed on both ranges, the low/high gearing is in the back of the gearbox
@MF175mp5 жыл бұрын
And if you meant changing while moving, that's almost impossible on the low gear since the tractor will stop before you get the gear in, so I at least don't and can't change them while moving
@JohnSmith-oy1vl5 жыл бұрын
@@MF175mpTo clarify.. I can shift the gears without grinding much easier when the power shift is in high. Do you think thats "normal" or is something about ready to "go out"
@MF175mp5 жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-oy1vl that's normal because the multipower ratchet drags on low mp making it hard to move the gears
@wdwvideos2703 жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-oy1vl you shouldn't even be able to switch gears in high multi-power

Not measured. Was 110hp originally when the engine was in the importer-turbocharged MF 595. Planning on adding a few horses more.

A tractor that never reached its potential could eat Ford 7000 didnt over heat like one and carried more fuel to keep going longer.

This actually has a huge fuel tank. About 200 litres.

That horrible multi power no engine breaking in low range a very big mistake when they made it it shoulda bn like fords dual power and had engjne breaking in both ranges . Many folk have had near misses with mutipower after being used to duel power in a ford . Myself included . It was still handy for doin field work and getting up hills when heavily loaded but u had to make sure it was in high multi for goin down hills
@MF175mp3 жыл бұрын
That's a matter of opinion, I think it makes floating gears easier than a real powershift gear and makes smooth ride with 0% multi-power clutch slip during change possible when doing transport. In my case I live in almost flat area as you can see, the brakes almost never get touched here and neither is the engine braking very necessary
@MF175mp3 жыл бұрын
Also, that isn't our only tractor, just was cruising around when I first got it moving at all. Biggest complaint about it is that it is loud as hell, and the biggest noises aren't coming from the exhaust, the 4 wheel drive transmission just is reminding of its existence more louder
@tjsbbi3 жыл бұрын
Duel power was a lot safer when you've got a heavy load behind you and steep terrain. I could never understand how Massey thought it was reasonable to not have engine braking in low.
@jamesmccabe17022 жыл бұрын
what a stupid comment, if you dont know how multi power works you have no business on a tractor
