Hi Anil, very good vlog. I think this phev would give very close to the range of 67 km in peak traffic rather than highways. I was under the impression that inner city traffic is where you get the most benfit out of the battery, because on higher speeds, the battery has to work harder. In your vlog, I noticed you were very close to getting 67 kms after the first 2 check ins, when you were driving in the traffic. Then when you went at the speeds of over 70 km/hr, the final range you got was around 63 kms. Did you think that was the case?
@AnilVlogsfromThailand

Hello Aseem.. that’s true.. PHevs are meant for city driving for short errands like home to work saving a lot of gas. of course at higher speeds the battery drains faster.

I did a test a few days ago where I drove to my bank approx 15kms at normal speed with no traffic and then the return journey I drove pure electric at say 75km/hr and round trip was consumption was 37km/ltr which I thought was good. Fuel consumption for this car using petrol engine only on expressway is around 15km/ltr at 100km

That’s very true.. it always returns a decent mileage. When I drive @ 90kmph on highways, it returns at least 16.5 to 17 kmpl.. pretty decent mileage

Thanks.. this supports only Type 2 AC charging up to 22.08 KW . No DC charging is supported. Using Type 2 AC it takes 3 hours and using. Type 1 AC it takes around 4 and a half hours.

Thanks. The reason I ask is because in the U.K. it is often cold and the engine comes on when heating is needed. So why isn’t there an electric heater? Takes too much electricity? More than air conditioning? Cheers.

Welcome. That’s true like you said. The ICE comes on when heating is needed. I too had the same experience recently, a few days back. When, I set the temperature higher than the outside temperature, the EV mode stopped automatically and ICE kicked in.

Anil I have this vehicle but I don't have your slow traffic in my area so when you are driving at 70 to 80km you definitely don't get 67kms range. Have you tested the other driving modes such as normal and ECO ?
@AnilVlogsfromThailand
@AnilVlogsfromThailand Жыл бұрын
I always leave it in the Normal mode. I don’t drive @ 70 all the time. The max I could get around town is 80 sometimes. In town it’s like tail gating.. on some roads it’s free.. I don’t use Eco mode bcoz it’s said that the regeneration doesn’t happen in that mode.

Hello, I see the infotainment screen has a much better interface than the model sold in Europe in 2022…. Was it that interface from start, or was it following a firmware update? Anyway I’m jealous ;)

To be frank, they both work very well. Blind spot warning indicators are located inside . LKA is fine too. As usual, it works well on bright clear sunny days. Even the lane departure warning is very good. Teach wise, it’s very good.

Hi. By my calculations, 63 km = 39.1miles. The nominal battery capacity of the MG HS is 16.6 kWh. This would suggest the MG HS does 2.35 miles per kWh in battery-only mode. This seems rather low. Am I missing something?
@AnilVlogsfromThailand
@AnilVlogsfromThailand 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, you are right. The real usable capacity is just 14.2 kWh according to the MG info. The remaining is used for maintenance. That means it gives a little more @2.74 m/kWh. The X3 30e has a capacity of 12 kWh battery and a range of 30 miles @ 2.5 m/kWh and the X545e has a 17.1 kWh battery with a range of 50 miles @2.92m/kWh. Again, the real world mileage of these two vehicles is a bit lesser than the claimed mileage. I, also don’t have the data of the actual usable capacity for both x3 and X5. Considering the price point, I find this MG HS Phev a better proposition. Most of the hybrids are in the similar range. I don’t mean that this comes anyway closer to those both. I’m a great fan of BMW. I think the range is enough for daily commute.

@@AnilVlogsfromThailand Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm trying to persuade my son to upgrade his ancient Nissan Qashqai. He could go with another, newer but still conventional petrol Qashqai, a mild hybrid (like the 48V Suzuki Vitara) or a PHEV like the MG HS. Cost is a big factor; £13k for conventional, £16k for a 48V hybrid & £24k for the MG HS. I've advised him not to consider full BEV as they're still far too compromised. Watched all your MG videos. Very educational!
