The brass blanks work more reliably, especially in machine guns. While I was being shot at by this guy during this reenactment, I was very impressed that they kept it running for more than 50 rounds

Honestly, I wouldn’t want to be where the spectators are in this video. If something got lodged in the barrel or one of the blanks had something in it like a rock or metal or something, that projectile could be deadly. Look how Brandon Lee died during the filming of the Crow.

That was an actual bullet. Contrary to what many think, bullets and blanks are inspected. There has never been a peace of a rock or metal go drown range from a blank. Why, because these are real guns and require real maintenance from the people who clearly know what they are doing.

Nah mate. There is a blank adapter in front of the muzzle. Primarily to strenghten blowback. Its secondary functions is to drive the blank shrapnell in to the sides.

The difference is that the gun used in the scene where Brandon Lee was killed was a real gun, fully functional and capable of firing live ammunition. It was a revolver, which doesn’t need an adapter to fire blanks, because revolvers don’t need to harness the energy of the shot to cycle. So they just loaded blanks for the scene, unaware that a bullet was lodged in the barrel. Guns used in these reenactments aren’t even technically guns, since they can’t fire live rounds. They’re just expensive noise makers. In fact, if they did the blank firing conversion correctly, it should be impossible to chamber a live round accidently.

It is my weapon and it has to be set up to run blanks. Part of that is the barrel amd of course the blank fire attachment and restictor. A live 8mm round woukd fit in the 308 feed tray we are running and if you single loaded a live round, the weapon. Would blow up in your face since it has a blank adapter under the flash hider. All weapons, blanks, and blank attachments have to be inspected before each battle

The reenactments I've been to are _very_ strict about inspecting and making sure every last round is a blank and adapters are used, everyone takes firearm safety very seriously. Sure live rounds could get mixed in, but that's what the inspection is for. Plus like mp40 said it has a blank firing adapter, you just can't easily see it.

I live in re-enactments how there’s a MG42 and they’re just laying like 150 feet in front of it in the open and they don’t get ‘hit’ makes me laugh every single time, love the re-enactments with distance or close quarters so they actually have a fight

The official army manual of US Army seriously suggested their soldiers to assault while enemy MG42 is on reload or on barrel change. Maybe they read too much of their MARVEL Flash comic books.
