Hello, thanks for the review. I have a few questions: My brother bought a while ago a Yi Dome Guard which is now placed next to a basement-level storage space in our building with practically no light at night. We have three issues with it: the night vision quality is not good enough to discern a face several meters away. Often we are not even sure who's the person when it's actually someone from our building. Do you think this Xiaomi camera will produce clearer low light footage? The free cloud storage when the camera is motion triggered is only for 6 second clips. How much is available for this model? The Xiaomi website gives an * about the non-pro model that it allows about 10 seconds, the pro model doesn't mention anything. And last thing is the Wi-Fi reception: it needs to connect to a router one floor above it, and while my phone is able to connect relatively well from there (about 20mbps) the Yi camera has bad reception and it barely manages to upload videos from there. Any chance you tested a maximum Wi-Fi range with this camera? Thanks in advance!

Did you get your answer ? Even I have a question, if I am leaving my house for 2 months...and I want 2 months recording..will this support to get it stored on cloud on partial basis. From where I can cut and paste at my local drive at another geo location.. Is it possible ??

@@tanmayvarshney6395 I don't have an answer yet, I ordered this from AliExpress but it's taking some time to arrive. I assume the "rolling storage" means either the (10 second?) files are stored for a number of days before being deleted or the older files are deleted in order after a new file is recorded. So I assume it should at least be possible to download the new 10 second shots to your phone when you get a push notification and they are still online. But perhaps if you add an SD card it can hopefully be set to record longer shots when the motion detection is triggered, which I hope will be accessible while you are away through the app.

So I assume we can cut paste the 7 days data from cloud to phone. Eventually I am goona place a SD Card in it. But the thing is as per security level, I am seeking a device which can give me data saving option sitting at remote location. As I am out of the place for min. Of 2 months, so at that moment atleast I can have data stored at cloud even if camera is damaged. I will be glad, if you can suggest any device supporting my requirement. Thanks again !!

@@tanmayvarshney6395 Yeah, I forgot it said 7 days. So perhaps the files are deleted after 7 days, but I still wonder if it also limits how many files can be stored simultaneously in addition to the 7 day limit. Regarding the extended cloud storage, I think you can pay for a premium cloud subscription, but I couldn't find any details on the Xiaomi website. It's difficult to find exact information, but it seems you should be able to play through the app the files saved on the SD card, but it doesn't feature copying to phone through the app, so one would need to do something like recording the screen while playing the video in the app. It also features support to save files to a NAS, which should enable you to access your files from afar more flexibly. So I'm not certain yet as I don't have the device, but there should be a couple of workarounds to make what you ask for possible. I don't know of specific cameras that offer such function built-in, but perhaps there is something like this which exists. I say it would have been easiest if they allowed to backup to Google Drive, but they probably don't do that as this would mean "free storage" instead of using their subscription option.

@@tanmayvarshney6395 I received the camera and will write this update: First, the video recording quality is pretty good (microphone is crap, though) and the night vision is also better than many other cameras, I would say. The Wi-Fi reception also seems stronger than with our earlier camera (YI). I added an SD card and you CAN download the videos through the app directly to your phone. Live view and save-to-SD are in full quality while the cloud backup (which records snapshots between 8 and 17 seconds) is compressed and only 360p, so it's better to use an SD card. The official specs say it supports only 32GB, but I put a 64GB Samsung PRO Endurance microSDXC and it seems to work fine. One thing and it's pretty major, and I'm not sure whether it's a bug (seems like it because it should be software-related) or a hardware malfunction with the specific camera I got, but the motion sensing is triggered by anything, even if you put it on low sensitivity. You can tell it to only push-notify you about people (and even then it sometimes makes wrong "person detected"), but it still records every damn movement. Even a speckle of dust. I'm not sure why would they do that like this as it uploads constant unnecessary snapshots to their cloud servers, and if you hope to have your SD card to store only motion-detected videos rather than 24/7, well, it will still record almost constantly. But if you actually plan to record 24/7 than it shouldn't be a problem. Also it is possible the camera should support even greater storage sizes as supporting 64GB means at the very least it supports exFAT, but I'm not certain.

If connected to MI account, it works from anywhere in the world. Mi home app probably links that device to their servers and then routes your device to it via internet. It now stays connected to my wifi after power outtage. it's amazing.

Inconvenient to have a long charging cable. Some cameras come with removable battery pack, you can take out battery, charge and put it back into the camera unit. Check the content of TECHNICAL SHOW TIME for one such camera.

Bought this one and regretting already - much worse that Wyze (cound't ordes as Pan 2 was out of stock). A lot of frustration with this cam by now: 1) problems with notifications push ups (all set, all permissions allow, work around with automation but still huge delays) 2) no full color in dark mode 3) strange issues occured when using Mi Home and Mi Fit - needed to reinstall Mi Home and pair cam for second time. 4) no sound setting for other user is too low, for me too low with a lot of noise when communicating 5) even in the room is completely silent - their is a lot of terrible noise in the audio. Face recognition wasn't tested

@@ZyroxOg2 After 1 year use I've get used to it. Some issues disappeared with software update. It's up to you to buy or not. If it's you first cam and you have nothing to compare with it can be no frustration at all.
