The college football game between Miami and Florida State had a thrilling ending as Florida State rallied to beat their bitter rival for the first time in five years. With 11 minutes left, Miami scored a crazy 35 yard touchdown to take a 28-20 lead over Florida State. Florida State responded with a long drive and kicked a field goal to make it 28-23 with just under five minutes remaining. Then, the Seminoles defense made a stand and got the ball back with two minutes left. FSU QB Jordan Travis completed a deep ball on the first play of the possession to put them in the red zone. Then, on fourth and 14, Travis completed another big pass to put FSU right at the Miami goal line with just one minute left. Florida State eventually scored a touchdown with 26 seconds left to take a 31-28 lead. Florida State stopped Miami and held on for a thrilling 31-28 victory.

@@ldfreeman022 So if a team spikes the ball at any time shouldn't there always be a 3 second clock run? There is no reason that there needs to be 3 seconds on the clock to spike a ball if you can do it in less. Seems to me like this rule was put into place for the same reason you can't count cards at casinos. The house can't control it.
@briley2177
@briley2177 2 жыл бұрын
@@theodorefreeman It’s a combination of first down clock stoppage, ball setting, referee positioning, and not putting the refs in a position of reviewing plays to determine EXACTLY when a ball hits the turf to stop the clock. They tried to take the refs out of the end of game situation by just giving the teams a hard and fast rule and making the players dictate the outcome. Problem is TVD didn’t know the rule - or at least it didn’t sound like he did from his post game presser.

Those opposed to the 12-team playoff say that it will “water down the regular season”. This game has zero playoff implications, zero conference championship implications, and barely has any bowl implications. And yet, the teams are gutting it out, fans going crazy, and everyone is loving it. College football regular season games are great because people love their school! That won’t change whether the playoff expands to 12 or 40.

As a huge FSU fan this was a big game especially for recruiting we are a 3x better than we were in the beginning of the year Norvell is getting us back to where we belong at the top he changed the toxic culture which is super hard to do he is doing amazing in recruiting and he is doing this in just 2 years. Now we have the top recruit for next year Travis hunter can play cb or wr and AJ Duffy top 15 qb in the country and a lot of other players and now we have a chance to play for a bowl game that is crazy and the fact that this team never quit on norvell or just stopped playing is a big part too they aren’t the most talented but they are going 100% every single second don’t worry really soon we will be back up where we we were a couple years ago

That is referred to as the Auburn rule. Against bama, Auburn lined up, clock started and they spiked it with only 1 second on the clock to do all that. The next season the 3 second rule was put in. The clock starts when the official over the ball whistles it in play, steps away, the snap and the spike. 3 seconds is about right.

It’s a combination of first down clock stoppage, ball setting, referee positioning, and not putting the refs in a position of reviewing plays to determine EXACTLY when a ball hits the turf to stop the clock. They tried to take the refs out of the end of game situation by just giving the teams a hard and fast rule and making the players dictate the outcome. Problem is TVD didn’t know the rule - or at least it didn’t sound like he did from his post game presser.

The 3 teams that absolutely hate each other in College Football are Florida State, Miami, and Florida and most people don’t know why that is but one of the main reasons is that at one point all 3 were Empire like programs and every time they played it was almost a playoff game already because it would usually decide who was going to the National Championship, hell sometimes Florida even played Florida State or Miami in the National Championship

@TheMacC117
@TheMacC117 2 жыл бұрын
It's specific to a quarterback spike, to prevent them from cheating the system like this guy tried to. You have to wait one full second to snap after the whistle, and it should reasonably take another second to take a step and perform the spike. A 2 second play, leaving 1 left if there were 3 on the clock. If Miami would have run a play, that would have been allowed. I didn't know this rule until last year, when Saban cited it in the Georgia game.
