Catchy tune with great lyrics and orchestration. Pure pop but got some Northern potential I reckon.

I had one of the original records right off the press. He used to come to our house and sing wish my mom in Houston. I can still see her doing the punch when the horns would hit.

Somehow I removed my post about Michael. He sang live in the late 1960's in Lancaster Pa. he was on tour promoting the song you posted. Sadly I don't know if it ever went anywhere nationally but I don't think so. Always loved the tune and thanks for posting it for the rest of the world to find and enjoy!

@Tinsby Thanks for your comment. The label on this may be different because this is a Promotional/Radio Station copy. I've never seen a stock copy of this 45. I think that this track is actually the 'B' side - The 'A' side being 'Mixed-Up Guy', a Jimmy Webb song. The 'hollow' sound that you describe is down to the fact that the audio is recorded 'live' in my lounge. Unfortunately, I'm unable to record the audio directly into my PC.

@rooie16 I found my copy and it's the same as yours as far as the label goes. Mine doesn't say A or B side but when he played in Lancaster, the side you posted was what was he was pushing and it got airplay here. Looks like a nice turntable is it a Thorens by chance? If you simply add a small preamp from the tonearm you can then take that output and send it to the LINE IN on your soundcard, then make the mp3 or whatever you want from it. Regards, J T PM me if you want more info on how to do this
