I do think he should have been nominated for his role in this movie, but I suspect the reason he wasn't is precisely because of the role he played. No one wanted to give him props for playing an Sadistic Slave Master. But they should have nominated him not because of his character but because he portrayed that character so well and realistically.

He got nominated for an Oscar, but lost against Jared Leto. He played Mr. Epps brilliantly, but Jared Leto did a great job as well. Hopefully next year, he will be nominated for something and he will actually win! Haha.

Huh I didn't even realize Fassbender was nominated for his role in 12 years. The entire award season I never heard his name mentioned.

Chiwatel plays Solomon. I died laughing when she said that he plays a character named Platt. Although that was his slave name, that's not who Chiwatel played primarily, haha.

Ohh and another thing I took from the story is that, I couldn't tell the difference between the slave and the master. I felt like they were both slaved by their circumstances which made me feel bad for the oppressors. You could see they didn't want to have it that way.

He deserves this. But Michael Fassbender is the best actor in the universe. Michael danced on the dance floor at the TIFF premiere before Michael meets Swedish actress Alicia Vikander.

I watched the movie and I didn't understand the hype honestly. Maybe I don't get american culture? Anyways I only loved the part where he went back to his old life and I almost cried when I saw his family.

Do you understand Slavery then? To say you don't see the hype is to not understand the horror that was Slavery. This man was born free and kidnapped and brought to a state where Slavery still existed and treated horribly and he could do nothing about it. Come on.

4daluvofnikki you dont need to understand the horrors of slavery to see that his life has gotten worse with the slavery involved and him being snatched away from his family and his identity. No, really all you have to do is watch and listen to the sound of the whips and shacks to know that slavery was no joke. That being said, i still don't see the hype.
