In this full interview, Michael Franzese speaks about his life as a former New York mobster and caporegime of the Colombo crime family, where through the gasoline tax rackets in the 1980s he reportedly made more money for a crime family than anyone since Al Capone. During the height of his scheme, Franzese was selling half a billion gallons of fuel a month while earning approximately $10 million a week, all the while keeping the tax revenue for himself which was spread throughout the family. Additionally, due to the substantial profits being made, Franzese was able to sell the gas at the cheapest prices in the city, thus becoming known as the Robin Hood of his community.
Elsewhere, he talks about family turmoil where his own father put a hit on him after leaving the mafia, who later was given an 8-year prison sentence after Franzese's brother wore a wire and took the stand against him. Additionally, he mentions how the mafia killed Jimmy Hoffa and extorted J Edgar Hoover, as well as sharing information he heard regarding the mafia's involvement in JFK's assassination.

Ah, but who is the Government ? It is you, me and every legitimate citizen. The Government's expenditure doesn't decrease just because they get less money in. The lost shortfall in those millions of dollars on the gas scam would have been made up for by increased taxes elsewhere. So although the gas was slightly cheaper we were in effect being taxed twice on it.

this was the first video on your channel that I watched and I have been addicted ever since. I had not heard of this case until I saw this video and my mom and I (the true crime buffs in the family) are both fascinated and compelled by your analysis. I must give you props because it's incredibly difficult to remain objective regarding a case and with a background like the one you have. I feel like I tend to review things much like the way you do, from that 3rd party POV, and it is definitely not a popular one because people tend to be so "black and white" when making critical decisions or passing judgement. I also really appreciate the "truth is for everyone" mentality. the truth can be a harsh thing to hear but I would rather deal with a harsh truth than believe in a gentle lie. keep up the good work!

The way he deflected the Al Capone comparison was pretty epic. But you know deep down it makes him feel like an absolute boss. No one is being compared to Capone , not even Gotti!

Very well spoken and calm. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't really leave the life. He could very easily be the public information officer for the mafia. He could be dazzling the public and the feds with past true stories with just enough truth to keep eyes off of the current way the mafia operates. The mafia has changed the way it operates these days and this guy could be the left hand that everyone is watching while the right hand is continuing its operations.

Somebody who gets it! These are nothing more than psychopaths and the fact that psychopaths are good at wearing the mask of deception, behaving respectfully, looking the part etc., yet don't ever change shows just how easy it is to deceive neurotypicals who aren't operating on higher vibrations.

This guy is almost 70, had a mountain of stress, hits on his life, prison time, Feds on him, and looks better than most people half his age. I get rattled working a regular 9-5 and look like shit if I don’t sleep 8 hours a night.

That's cause he never had a 9-5 job, he said it himself. A normal job is more stressful than what he's been through. 😂
