You have to realise that this guy was very powerful back then. A captain, making millions of dollars, with one of the most respected and old mobsters as a father, Henry Hill was a drug addict hanging around the big fellows, of course he got scared when he saw Mike. He did not knew that Mike had his own problems at that point in time.

When I was in FDC Philadelphia 2 men that was cooperated Against Joey merlino and his crew was placed on the same unit with 3 members from joey's crew The BOP screw up very often and place people that are cooperating in the same jail as the People they are cooperate in against. I was also cell mates with Frank Persico, Alley Boy came to my cell every day didn't know who he was until someone told me.I was in shock. Frank had his wife call my wife when I got shipped out. Also met Jhon Gotti son in law Carmine we all walked to med line at night. Jails loaded with mob guys, most of they are cool people.

If you were going to cast Henry and co. based on who best resembled the real characters, it should have been Joe Pesci playing Henry Hill (who in real life was short and square) and Ray Liotta should have played Tommy DeSimone (who was tall and slender). And to round out the trio, the real Jimmy Burke resembled Brian Dennehy far more than he did Robert DeNiro.
@themostsecretscience6409
@themostsecretscience6409 Жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree with your line up. Hollywood has to go for the money and Ray Liotta was handsome and Pesci and DeNiro were vets. They always seem to take certain liberties with "based on true" stories.
@carguy6512

I think the reason they did that was because Tommy DeSimone was crazy in real life, and Pesci can play that kind of part maybe better than Ray Liotta

Goodfellas aside... we needed a Philly mob movie with Joe Pesci playing Nicky Scarfo. Yes it's a typecast with Joe Pesci at this point, always playing the short crazy mobster but he definitely would've been a better Scarfo than a Tommy DiSmone or a drunk rat Henry Hill. I keep trying to figure out who they could cast in today's world to play Nicky and I just keep going back in time to Pesci. Maybe William DeMeo?

@@TonyVerrazano Pesci might be a little too old to play Scarfo at this point. Gotta get some new blood in Hollywood to revive the mob flix.

All of them were a lot more scarier in real life then in the movie. Henry Hill said that Paul Vario was the worst. From the look of Henry when he was alive you can tell he had a bad life with thoes guys, not at all like they make him look in the movie. Mike here, on the other hand, was a feared and powerful guy back in that life, no doubt about that.
