Whether you like him or hate him, we all have to agree that he was the biggest superstar in music history. He influenced many artists of today and his work still continues to entertain us even from his passing. There's no doubt that Michael Jackson will forever be remembered as the one and only King of Pop.

MJ was actually a perfectionist. I remember interviews where he shared that he was dancing 8 hours a day to get ready for performances. As a prep he also still used to watch concert performances by James Brown, when he already was an established artist. As a young child artist he used to study the older Motown artists from the wings of the stage. Also his parents were musicians. That's what makes it look easy; he put in the work to make it so.

Love you, Michael! R.I.P. I cried so hard when I found out he was gone. We'd been driving around in the car, going somewhere, and I had to stop at an Arby's to go to the bathroom. When I got back to the car, my husband was playing the radio, and one Michael after another played. I was excited because I've always loved him. I turned to my husband, who had a sad look on his face. I asked him what was wrong, and he said, "It was just on the news. Michael Jackson passed away." I swear I felt my heart drop to my stomach, and I started crying. He was a wonderful performer, a fantastic vocalist, a humanitarian, and a loving, humble, giving man. And way too young to go.

The only "problem" Michael had was that he thought of himself still as a child, with a child's heart. To him sharing his bed and his home with children was like a boy having a sleepover. Because of this their were people who thought they could take advantage of this and chased him for everything they could get. This world was never meant for people with big hearts.

It's funny how "Bad" wasn't considered a successful follow-up to "Thriller" at that time. It was the first album to produce 5 consecutive #1 hits and sold over 35 million records regardless.

I don't think he was ever satisfied with the success of BAD!! He tried chasing the success of Thriller for the rest of his career, but he couldn't do it. It was truly a once in a lifetime thing.I personally think BAD was the better album. He over pressurised himself too much😁 You can imagine how crushing it must have been for him to not win a single Grammy for BAD when he literally won 8 in one night for Thriller!!

This is such a late response but it was actually 6 number hits if you count countries outside of the US. Liberian girl hit #1 in Ireland so that album actually had 6 #1 but 5 is still amazingly impressive.

I wish people would stop saying he was obsessed with plastic surgery, he only had one surgery done to his nose, so he can breathe and sing higher notes better. Can't people accept the fact that MJ actually admitted the embarrassing fact that he had the skin disorder vitiligo? He dedicated over 40 years of his life, giving people wonderful music, and the tabloids are still making up stupid lies about him.

I'm sorry watch mojo, this has too many mistakes.... The history tour was more successful than bad, and Michael Jackson didn't have an obsession with plastic surgery... He had two ops on his nose and a simple put in his chin... Other physical changes cane from hair style changes, weight loss, predominantly after the child molestation cases, making him appear gaunt, and his many skin conditions that changed the colour and appearance of his skin... Evidence comes from documents and post mortem examinations.

I'm a bit worry about how people will see Michael Jackson 50-100 years later, because of that. There are fortunately other people who are doing a deep research on him to find the truth, Thank God !

Michael Jackson, the one and only! I can surely say that we would never ever have such a talented and influental Musician/Singer. He is the primest example of a role model put the claws of modern mass-media, a scary reminder how the machine actually works. First there was a dispute with the MTV, they did not want to broadcast black musicians music, that was the showcase of super primitive thinking. Then after he was aired for the first time after a long fight.......WOOOOOW! A huge success, but not for Michael! Michael would be anyway planetary famous, with or without the MTV...but on the other hand MTV should be eternaly thankful to the musician who launched them into success and they judged him just by the colour of his skin. Then there were years of constant success in the 80's and the world watched how Michael was always setting the standards higher and higher. He only had the best musicians around, the best producer(s) and he was surely the best in what was he doing...showbusiness. Look at the nowadays music? Just a bunch of nicely packed squirreldreck. But then, a mass-media machinery showed his ugly face again by fabricating lies about Michael, and that longed for almost 20 years! Years on we could only hear how Michael is a bad, bad man, a world class pedophile who acts as a good guy but it's bad to the bone, his albums and all of the work in that period was in a shade of fabrication. Then, he died...! Mass medias who caused such a misery to him are suddenly in a "great and unimaginable" sorrow for the King of POP, everyone who was speaking bad about him is now practically praising Michael, and they're all "struck" by this huge loss......what a money hungry bunch of hypocrites. Michael Jackson legacy on a modern culture can never be changed, he was surely not a perfect, but he tried! And still, his tries were the most succesful ones!

haustyl12 No, that's not it. What happened after he died was that the media started doing retrospective pieces on his life (like this video) and pointing out all the contributions he had made to pop music and music in-general. Not to mention pointing out barriers he had broken for African American musicians, like being the first black guy to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone etc. I actually remember people, who were too young to have seen MJ in his hayday, and only knew of him because of the child molestation charges actually hearing his songs properly for the first time after his death and going "OMG! He was awesome!" It is also important to remember that he was never convicted of anything, ever! After his death, a lot of articles came out pointing out this rather basic fact and also reviewing the charges against him and the evidence in an objective, not sensationalised manner and people started to go, "you know what, I can see why the jury didn't convict him" or better yet "yeah, he was innocent". That's why he made something of a comeback after death. It's when the book closed on his life that many, many, many people actually looked at his life and contributions and began to appreciate him (in the case of the young and new fans) or re-appreciate him (old fans who had simply forgot how good he was) as a musician and maybe even as a person because they began to believe that Michael Jackson had been innocent.

I have always love Michael, since I heard Billie Jean, and I remember watching Rush Hour 1 & 2 and saw him and Chris Tucker performing his new single You Rock My World. When I was 3 my dad bought me his Greatest Music Video Hits and I would watch that 100 times every single day. I would do my best to dance like him and sing like Michael. I may not be that old but I grew up with Michael in my Childhood and saw the things on the news but stilled loved him no matter what. Then in 2009 I heard of his death and I was heart Broken, my world came crashing down and I was in misery. My biggest fan, my biggest inspiration had passes away and I cried for months. He was my hero, my star, my reason to dance, to these day I still watch his videos, listen to his music and still dance like him in the best way I can. No matter where I go or where I am, I'm dancing to him and like him all over the place. Long live the King of Pop, the legend, the amazing and very incredibly talented Mr. ... Michael Jackson

How do I feel about Michael Jackson? Lets put it this way. In 2010 I was assaulted outdoors, brutally. I had the song "Beat It" in my mind. What could I do? Mike making it clear running away from such dangers wasn't necessarily a bad thing saved my life. As long as I am alive? Michael Jackson's music and conscienciousness will be right up there with the influence of Stevie Wonder,The Beatles,Joan Baez,Curtis Mayfield and every other musical great I admire.

Probably dislikes from people who are racist. Remember he suffered a lot from that. People including the media didn't like that the greatest entertainer of all time was black.

@@expirednachos that's pure ignorance. It's a fact. Everyone knows Michael Jackson suffered racism coming from people who didn't like his power as a black man. He broke through racial barriers and racist people didn't like that. That's just how it was whether you like it or not.

Sorry, I just don't believe it. He was completely healthy, but lonely. He felt very alone, but it's his "death" story so people would believe it. Because most people thought he was a drug addict, and always lonely ALL THE TIME! But not me, he just wouldn't put his life in risk, or let someone else risk it. I'm sorry if my *thoughts* are stupid to you, but I'll just leave you alone.

I relocated to Michael's hometown Gary Indiana just as Michael Jackson was slowly evolving in the legendary superstar he later became. My biggest regret is I didn't buy enough of his collectible items. There were a prolific amount of posters and Michael Jackson buttons and his fabled "glitter gloves" . Yes I purchased a few of these small treasures but not enough. I can still see the glitter gloves in a neat box sitting near the check out counters in the neighborhood supermarkets. None of us were aware that Michael Jackson would become one the most influential singers of the late 20th century. And something else I moved from a predominantly white city to Gary Indiana and looking back I remember the white radio stations didn't play music from Michael's album Thriller very often and very little was spoken about his amazing musical genius and immensely growing popularity. It's only when I arrived in Gary indiana I was introduced to Michael Jackson Mania. It was magical and spell binding if you only knew the atmosphere created by him back then. I am proud to have witnessed the birth of THE AGE OF MICHAEL JACKSON AD
