Vanina Lorenz Actually, at that time he was already full of debts, but the interviewer didn't say he couldn't buy the entire shop, he just made an affirmation. Since there are people in extreme poverty and MJ used to talk about poverty in his songs, I think this extravagant spending made him look like he and his songs were hypocrites.

Buying stuff that's just expensive for the sake of it with no real inherent value That's why he went on tour towards the end of his life to try to relieve the debt. Otherwise he would have lost everything. But the tour was too hard for him to handle in his 50s. So he died
