Nice to see a great lad sat there. Michael wasn’t only a great footballer he’s a great parent and father. No one would wish it upon anyone. But I’m pleased that out of the odds it fell upon someone with such a great father who has brought him up to only see the positives in life. Well done Michael🫡🫡

A look in Michaels eyes listening to his son is a look any father recognises. It’s emotion, fear, and it’s speaks to the journey. Fine young man.

As someone born with a genetic disease myself I can relate to a lot of this. Personally, I have Homocystinuria or H.C.U for short, it is a metabolic disease. When I was 32, I am now 42 coming up for 43 in July when I was 32 I had a massive stroke & the stroke resulted in me losing my parifirel vision in both eyes. So basically in terms of James I personally have the reverse problem James problem is his central vision whare my problem is my parifirel vision it was Homocystinuria that resulted in the Stoke. A German doctor told me about a young girl how was 3 at the time how had went undiagnosed & had a stroke at 3 years of age but apparently could not remember any different post stoke so like James & myself she learnt to adapt. Disability of any kind may shape your life but you dont need to let it destroy your life you just need to find your own coping strategies. James is right when he talks about how people think of blind or partiality sighted people playing football. I have a can do attitude myself no point feeling sorry for yourself. I still enjoy sports myself It's just more of a challenge actually attending games the biggest challenge I have is food wise at sporting events the last time I went to a sporting event was Basketball & there was absolutely nothing I could eat at all. When I contacted Cladonan Gladiators there attitude to wards me was absolutely terrible. All power to James Owen. From Alan Shields.

There is no medical prevention possible to prevent the loss of your sight from this disease unfortunately. He will already be very partially sighted right now before eventually being registered blind, I'm sure every penny his Dad or himself have they would trade it all for a pair of healthy eyes.

"Just crack on" What a brave young man. Being born the son of a multi millionaire footballer and with only 98% vision. I can only imagine the obstacles he's had to overcome. I wish him well in his business ventures and don't let anybody tell you that you had an easy start in that with your massive starter cheque off your dad either, young man.
