I remember watching MJ in opposing team building always getting cheered for making a shot. That’s the kinda impact he made, he made opposing fans cheer for him. Currently the only dude in the League that does that today is Steph Curry, but he the crowd roar when MJ made that buzzer beating 3. 🎉

Doug Collins Jordan often attacked at the top of the 3 point line and while he was still deadly, it often resulted in the other 4 players just sitting in their spots or maybe a high screen being set. This was one of those TNT/TBS Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday games! I saw it live on TV. This game and the Jeff Van Gundy game were two of MJ’s best regular season games that year. Throw in that 45pt game he had against Gary Payton and the Sonics with that as well with the half court buzzer beater before the half.

This 1996/97 Heat was a lot better than the 95/96 one. Won 61 games and had the number 1 ranked defense in the league. Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, Voshon Lenard, P.J. Brown and Mashburn were a great defensive minded starting 5. Decent bench too with Majerle, Kurt Thomas and Danilovic. Keep in mind that this season was so defensive minded and slow paced that this 50 point game was the 2nd highest amount of points scored in a game by a player in the season[the highest was 51 points,also by Jordan, against the Knicks(2nd ranked defense in the league)]

I have noticed that 90s MJ had his best scoring games against great teams or great defenses. He wanted to elevate for the Knicks, Pacers, Magic, Heat, Jazz, Pistons, etc. Where as Kobe Bryant and James Harden scored their best games against weak defenses. Kobe hardly has any 50+ point games against elite defenses of his time. Nor does Harden and Luka.

Over and over and over again, I’m so happy, that I found this Chanel. ❤ I lived through this era, and it’s so nice to see, that you just showing the objective power of MJ, and never make it bigger than it was. To see this story’s again reminds me, why MJ is the GOAT. With Jordan, even about most of the regular season games you had a story to tell. With La Boom, every regular season Game looks the same, and in his whole career he created less story’s than Jordan in half of a season. That’s why Jordans legacy is so much bigger, and his brand is so successful.

It’s 23 years after Jordans career, and the story’s about him are still be interesting. 23 years after La Booms carrier, only the drama when he gave up, left the Cavs, to join a super team, that drove him to three easy titles, will be remained. Of course his come back to Cleveland and winning the title was amazing, but the last years in LA have been disappointing again. I believe 23 years after his career, nobody will remember much of him. Of course it has todo with personality, the media attention, the nowadays information overflow … but again, 23 years from now …

Watched the game live my family we didn't miss a game growing up west side of Chicago. MJ shot 54% this game starting 5 was in double figures except Rodman, Rodman had like 21 rebounds this game i think not sure. But Phil was real stern on not losing to Pat Riley. Phil chewed the team out in the locker room after a playoff loss to the Heat. Phil absolutely hated to lose to Pat.

Anyone who REALLY knows the game of basketball would see the footwork and how EVERY single move on the court is calculated by MJ, there is no wasted movement or energy. Everything about his game just looked so flawless watching him on WGN every Bulls game during the 90s…and all that is all before we even start to discuss his defensive abilities, which were elite as well. I’m looking at this Heat roster and similar to the Knicks, looks like Riley assembled quite a team around Mourning: Jamal Mashburn used to give Pippen all he can handle. PJ Brown was one of the best defensive power forwards. Bruce Bowen is on this team but he wasn’t yet the lockdown defender he was I assume because I don’t remember him on that team. It’s kind of sad the Bulls never had a legitimate rival and think there are lots of scenarios where it could’ve happened: Magic not getting HIV, Len Bias not dying, or even Shaq not leaving Orlando. But as history would have it, Jordan would just go through everyone like a buzzsaw. The league really had no dominant teams. Even if you took Jordan away, no team wins more than Houston’s 2 titles. It would’ve been parity like the 70s.

Jordan had plenty of rivals, but when you are the goat, to the casual or leFan, because MJ dominated many HOF players of his era, they assume it’s because he had no rivals/challengers. Btw, the Magic could have easily won a title or two if MJ wasn’t around. So could the Suns, Sonics, Knicks, Indiana etc. Got to love revisionist history.

The Heat got an opportunity to beat the Bulls throughout 1999 season. However that 1999 Bulls had the weakest roster, even weaker than 1984 Bulls team. Also the Heat were eliminated by the Knicks in the first round of the playoffs that year.

@@mcjr1989 They played zone behind. Dwayne Casey was the defensive coach and he knew LeBron was not a great shooter so they played zone. So in retrospect Eric Spolstra got out coached. A good coach would design plays to neutralize what a team does to slow down the offense
