People who weren’t alive to see this in the 90s don’t understand how big this was. He was probably one of the most famous people on earth and he was invincible it seemed. The best ever. He wasn’t the greatest athlete on earth he was one of the biggest celebrities. 3 peat in 91-93 season. Then at the age of 30 he walked away. It was shocking that in his prime he left. The game wasn’t the same afterwards. When he came back it was like an unreal feeling getting to see the best ever play again. Felt special. After the loss to Orlando in the playoffs in 95 it was sad thinking he would never be able to repeat his former greatness as it was an unbelievably impossible task. Man did he prove everyone wrong. The 1997-1998 season was a special season to watch him play knowing it was the end. those last few minutes in game 6 you just knew he was gonna do what he had always done in big moments and rise to the top and win. This 1995 comeback was truly hard to understand unless you were alive at that time

A little story: in 1995, 10 year old me lived in Orlando Florida with my mother and brother. We transplanted to Florida from Illinois after my father passed away. I was a Bull’s fan and the school I went to knew it. All the kids would razz me how Penny Hardaway was better than Jordan. The Magic were better than the Bulls. The Penny and Shaq show and so on. The school did a little newscast broadcast to each classroom prior to the official start of class each morning. We did news stories that were appropriate for grade school kids, sports, and weather. I always did the weather, never a news or sports cast. On March 19th the day after he announced the return, I was asked to sit and do the sportscast. Little 10 year old me sitting there beaming into the camera proudly announcing the return of my childhood hero 1000 miles away. I’ll never forget that moment.

Yeah. I have to agree. In WWE they go to so much effort to make the superstars look as bad assed as possible in their intros. And MMA fighters speak for themselves with their actions in and out of the ring. But when you hear the words "From North Carolina. At guard! 6'6"!" The anticipation is such that the one extra second it takes to say his name feels like an hour. And once it comes, the satisfaction just PERMEATES the room. "Michael! JOOOOOORRRDAAAAAANN!!!"

You're probably thinking Cavs, and/or possibly Pistons or Jazz fans. Even Knicks fans had the utmost respect for Jordan, despite denying them their long awaited championship which they often came oh so close to winning during the 90's.

@Ulysses432 And I remember Jordan's last ever game he played in M.S.G. with the Wizards, where Knicks fans were seemingly "rooting" for him to win, and beat them for one final time that season in 03 as well! Spike Lee was even a big Jordan fan, despite him being their chief arch rival back then, (along with Reggie Milller to a lesser extent) for that matter also.
