I remember I was really depressed during my 8th-9th grade years and I used to walk alone by the railroad tracks that lead me home. I listened to this song almost every day when I felt sad and was walking home. Whenever Michael would sing "so i'll close my eyes, look behind, moving on.." I actually closed my eyes and looked behind me and moved on. This song helped me forget about all the bad things that happened. Helped me move on from the past.

I first listened to this song from the ipod that my brother had given to me before he left for college out the country. It was one of few the songs he had in his playlist. I believe he used to listen to this when he missed home. He recently passed away due to Covid, and now I come back to this song often and try to relive what he went through being away from home. Saddening and peaceful this masterpiece. RIP my brother.

He used to go to my secondary school (high school) and my english teacher used to teach him 3 times a week. My english teacher played this song in class for us and told us stories about him and how he would always walk around with a giant guitar on his back and how he is a genius.

I discovered this song 4 years ago and it brings back very good memories. We were going to be parents and we used it to cradle my daughter still in her mother's womb. I just discovered Miwanuka tonight, but already I see his music being a part of my life for years to come. All I needed was one song, and now I'm about 9 songs in, and I'm just in awe, so thankful. It surprised me to see that he's a contemporary day artist, his music has such a classic sound and feeling to it. hey there, it may have been 5 years, but tonight i am first experiencing his music too. and it will have a big impact on me too, i know it. this is already such an important song to me, since i heard it on a christmas advert and knew if i needed to cry it would be perfect, so i searched the lyrics and found it of course. it will forever remind me of life right now, far from perfect but enough to keep me going and satisfied. last year i missed out on most christmas traditions because of you know, the whole pandemic. it’s all had a massive, predominately negative effect on my mental health, and i’m only 14, but i am so grateful that this year i will be able to go to my christmas home, to see my grandparents and cousins for a christmas that will be appreciated like no other. i hope you’re doing well, sending me best wishes :)

Dear Michael, your song came to me a few days before my father's funeral in February and I asked the parson (pastor) to play it, which he did. It was so beautiful and soothing. Could not have discovered this song at a more misfortunate/fortunate time. Cutting my mother out of my life was the most difficult and painful decision I've ever made, but absolutely necessary. Today I had to do it all over again when she reached out through some guy's Facebook. I blocked the account and changed all my privacy settings. She doesn't know where I live nor has any other contact info. This is like gouging out my heart and soul all over again. I would honestly rather go through cancer again. She is cancer... I backpacked for 3 months straight out of a very stressful moment in my life. Right about the last 2 weeks, when feeling homesick, actually sick with a fever, alone in a hostel room, this song...damn this song made me feel blue but hopeful at the same time. Moving to a new city couple years back, since then its been hard making friends, countless unpredictable bad things have been put in my path, and with "that thing" happening this year, i feel naked and vunrable, it feels like I'll never feel that 'home' safe feeling ever again. But time to time,somehow I stumble on this song and it gives me a lil melancholy hope, I hope some time in the future, when im in a better place in my life, this song will pop up somewhere and remind me how I kept pushing on.
