Michael Moorer - Is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1988 to 2008. He won a world championship on four occasions in two weight classes, having held the WBO Light Heavyweight title from 1988 to 1991; compiling 22 straight KOs in 22 fights and the WBO Heavyweight title from 1992 to 1993; the unified WBA, IBF and lineal Heavyweight titles in 1994; and regained the IBF Heavyweight title again from 1996 to 1997 becoming a three-time Heavyweight world champion.

The first ever Southpaw Heavyweight champion! Michael Moorer was a very good technician who originally started out as a Light-Heavyweight under the guidance of legendary trainer Emanuel Steward. "Double M" was a dominant and destructive champion at 175 lbs before he moved up to Heavyweight and took the title away from Evander Holyfield. Michael Moorer to me reminds me of Sugar Ray Robinson in the sense that they were both reluctant champions (they clearly had no desire for fighting, but just did it because they were good at it and it paid the bills)

Moorer reminds me of Hagler with that shotgun jab of his. Very powerful southpaw with some flaws when he moved to HW but he made the most of what he got. Underrated fighter nowadays but it’s nice to see him finally in the HOF.

Michael Moorer was truly a skilled fighter and an interesting case in that he was a right handed southpaw. Many left handed boxers fought in orthodox stance, Sonny Liston, Cleveland Williams, Pinklon Thomas, Donovan Ruddock, Marco Antonio Barrera, Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Andre Ward, etc. Moorer was the exact opposite and so are Winky Wright, Chad Dawson, Victor Ortiz and Vasyl Lomachenko. This channel always brings us something interesting. Edit: Manny Pacquiao is a right handed southpaw too.

Man he could really put that thing in someone's face. Nice to see this, most of my knowledge of him was from watching him lose to Foreman and getting yelled at in his corner.

He was a excellent fighter/boxer who seemed to have 2 careers At LH he was an aggressive monster who punished his opponent with huge punches, at HW he was more cautious, doubtful, not as aggressive

Double M was a good fighter that had the potential to be a great...he looked amazing at 175 but never fought an elite name, so who can say. He looked good at HW in the beginning but never came near greatness. At his best he was a world class technician with one of the best jabs in southpaw history. His fight with Smokin' Bert Cooper is my all time "most exciting HW fight", it is an absolute stunner, way better than Foreman vs Lyle or Jefferson vs Harris in my opinion.

I remember reading an interview with Emmanuel stewart. They asked him who the hardest punchers that he ever worked with. I believe he said Gerald McClellan and Michael Moorer.

Great song.....How you pick these gems that somehow fit Moorer style. Honestly one of the best Cruiser weights ever. Cruiser weight is where Moorer was a real genius.

Thanks! Moorer was never actually a Cruiserweight though, he was both a Light-Heavyweight and Heavyweight champ. He went from 175 lbs all the way up to Heavy.

Moorer is fantastic, 2 weight division champion, its a shame he basically didn't seem to care much after the Foreman loss and that and the loss to Tua basically defiined the second half of his career.

Moorer actually won the IBF title against Axel Schulz after his loss to Foreman. It was when he got stopped in the Holyfield rematch that you really started to see the lack of care for his career.
