So good to see Schenker is well again & playing as beautifully as he ever did.

that unmistakable singing vibrato. MS is king! i've read somewhere mikey once fired a tech for cutting off the excess strings of his guitar because he believes the soul of the guitar is in there.

Schenker has one of the best touches in rock, he squeezes everything out of each note, with bends beautifully felt & dead in tune.

@AeolianReflex he is coming through here in a few weeks definetly going to support his efforts. Looks like his tour schedule is a ball buster. Thank you to you and all who post this stuff. It has kept me busy.

@ChristIllusion024 Hell yeah he is playing this year. I just saw him last night in Corona and it was awesome. He is playing better than ever and having a lot of fun on stage. No doubt the best set I've seen him play and that saying a lot since I've seen him 11 times including back in the 70's with UFO.

@stratdoc I agree..I first met him in 2003..and subsequently many times later...this is the best he's looked since I've ever seen him. Clearly he has cleaned up his life. If you watch my videos of Leslie West from the same show...that's Michael's former bass player and drummer playing with Leslie.

Schenker is who made me want to play in the first place, and it's no different now. Except now, he's not so high, that at least when he plays, he moves around a little. But, even high, he'd just stand there, in UFO, but he wouldn't miss a note!!!

really sad this guy was always brilliant - even looking at footage of him you can see how just from 1981 - 1983 he had already got faster & better he was great. But many fall off their perch no matter how brilliant they are (and I think I'll stick with schenker from the 80's, thats the way I want to think of his flying fingers & that Gibson Flying V just incredible....

@Machinehead18 If you just got into Michael Schenker....Do NOT pass go, DO NOT collect $200...go straight to Amazon or iTunes and download the UFO album Strangers In the Night...it's a classic. Then my next suggestion would be the first and 2nd McCauley Schenker (MSG) albums from the mid 80s. Great stuff. That's the singer from this show..Robin McCauley.

Does anyone know for sure that he is using the "lights out" dean pickup set in this V? It sounds incredible! I know he endorses the dean stuff but just want to find out if this dean actually has those pu's in it?

@zublacus12 жыл бұрын
@stevegrierson Yeah...he sold his most famous Black and White Gibson....like 2002? on eBay. When his wheels really fell off his wagon. My friend played on Be Aware Of The Scorpion in 2001. There was a big blow up at the end of recording...Michael canceled zillions of shows...the Bay Area show..he wandered off...and they "lost" him. He tattooed the Cross on his forehead (it's been since removed)...needed money..and sold his gear....that's when he got the Dean gig...so I'm thinking 2003.

@believer2005 Come on now....Black...not blank...get it right. If I remember....someone was talking to me. Since I can't chew gum and walk, you can see the problem. I saw Michael Thursday (I posted 2 songs) and he was brilliant. I'm so glad he's stopped drinking.

@AeolianReflex You are lucky to have seen him with ufo. They were the best bad of all time with the schenker,mogg, way , raymond ,parker line up in my humble opinion.Schenker had just left UFO when I saw them. Chapman was good but no schenker. I saw MSG twice w GB on vocals man, I could never put my arms around some of the songs, all the instrumentals were great. What is the talk here of Schenker sober? Did he fall of the deep end again in recent yrs? I kind of lost touch.
@NielsBeier12 жыл бұрын
Is that Pride & Glory's old drummer?! :D
@AeolianReflex12 жыл бұрын
@4tanker When you saw them with GB do you mean Gary Barden or Graham Bonnet? Bonnet kinda sucked but I thought Schenker's playing was really good then. He did go off the deep end & quit playing and even sold his original V. I think the drugs and booze were really inflating his ego. He cleaned up his act a few years ago and he has been getting better and better ever since. When I saw him at the 2010 NAMM show he was really cool and humble and talked one on one with just about everybody.

Opinions vary for guitars. The fact is, it's not the guitar that makes the sound as much as the PLAYER. Schenker is past his prime but he will wipe the stage with anyone from these recent "rock" bands.

Schenker = outstanding. I don't know who the other guitar player is, but his tone here is beyond terrible. Really takes away from what is otherwise good stuff.
@Zodicus11 жыл бұрын
The rhythm guitarist's tone is just horrible. When he started playing I thought it was static, ruining Schenker's sound. :(
