He is even better than he used to be and he used to be one of the top guitarists of all time. A master player full of soul and taste that very few have, this is what happens when you dont stop playing and sit on your gold records and live off of past acheivements and get fat (like many of the all time greats have done). The guy still practices everyday cause you can hear it! Hats off to you Mr Schenker- your still the shit brother... Maestro play on to lift our hearts.

I was blown away to read somebody post such a negative comment regarding Michael's playing. That's youtube for you. People feel the need to say a great talent sucks. Many would agree he is one of the best and most influential hard rock guitarists out there.

david, it could just be someones honest opinion, i mean somewhere, somebody thinks that motley crue is a talented group. you cant always force someone to appreciate the finer things in life, or as the old saying goes, "you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make it think" (lol drink)

Izzi Michaels I love Michael, but I think Motley Crue are great. Mick Mars is a great guitarist. How you said your self, difference of opinions here.

Mick Mars? Even Mick would say Michael is one of the greatest ever, if you're going to make a comparison use someone of equal stature, I've been playing guitar for 43 years and I still have trouble keeping up with schanker, I could play Mick Mars in my sleep, thats not to say they didn't make good music but he was never on Schankers level.
@nroppo
@nroppo 2 жыл бұрын
@@vegashdrider You're right that Michael is one of the greats, at an entirely different level than most guitarists who've achieved fame. But...just a minor suggestion here...but you should probably try to learn how SchEnker (yes, with an E) is properly spelled before trying to come across as a guitar expert while trying to put down another fan for his/her personal perspective about guitarists. Kinda hard to earn any credibility about your own perspective of the subject when you don't even know how his name is spelled...literally decades after he's made the name for himself that you're apparently trying to defend. I personally don't have an opinion about Mick Mars one way or another. But regarding Michael SCHENKER (with an E, not an A), you're right that he's on another level than most.

When UFO made a concert in Paris some years ago, one of my US Football mate was working in the security company and he manage dot let me stay for the "dinner" after the show. I could speak with all the bad except Pete Way and Michael was the nicest of all of them. I could speak about music, UFO and he's own band etc.

Been a HUGE fan of Michael's ever since I first learned of him with UFO's Lights Out album, but I never ever got an opportunity to see him live until FINALLY in 2009 on his Schenker/Barden tour. I was like you -- mouth wide open but also with the hairs on my arms standing straight up. He was soooooo good, clean, perfectly timed and HAVING A BLAST PLAYING that he actually gave me the chills just watching him perform every note I knew by heart. Such a thrill to finally see him play live.

A couple of points: all that matters is the sound that comes out of the speakers. How you achieve it is your business. Also, does the solo fit the song? Yes = good solo. No = bad solo. Schenker understands this. I am just beginning to.

Michael has gotten use to playing the Dean guitars now, that's what some factory tweaking and getting use to a different guitar will do for you. He's always play'd gibson V's in the past, and you could tell early on with the deans that there was some struggles, but not anymore, he rips on the deans now. Schenker's the Best FTR.
