Kimi Räikkönen has a similar style. They turn in, let the rear slide round the corner, straighten the wheels and floor the throttle. If the slide gets too great, they just catch it with counter steering.

With 1 extra detail: the entering speed and managing to keep a max speed in apex + that rear sliding.

@@nandilemsweli6943 NO its not apple to apple comparison. 1st fuel restriction, 2nd power delivery is completely different. 3rd, thinner wheel compared to V10's.

I don't agree with you, becouse the right and only way for looking who is the greatest is on heavy wet, where only the true ability come out. Watch Michael on Spa last circuit part, with particoulary attention where after the final S push the car over the limits but take the control and the right line with an insane steering continue work and just a minimum directionally allowed. C'omon, that image scary me so hard, as his incredible insane self confidence. I'd never seen some thing like that, not even by Ayrton.. Kimy was fast on fast circuits but only on dry asphalt where the steering control was less required. Michael every where and in every weather conditions..

@@paolociarpaglini1303 Maybe Schumi was better in the wet than Kimi. However, their driving styles are still very similar.

11:49 is where I realize how next level his driving. In the US we didn’t get much broadcast. And I only seen a few races. But this is hard to comprehend what he was doing. I hope his son becomes his own legend. Imagine his dad with him the knowledge he gives. It’s sad but I’m cheering for him

They did have a good battle for as brief as it was...When Schumi moved to Benneton in 92,,he finished ahead of Senna in the Championship,and in 93 Senna finished ahead of him...And in 94 Schumi had won the 1st 3 or 4 races up until Senna's death...I always wished Senna was about 5 or 6 years younger,so we could've got more of him and Schumi battling it out,had he not passed away...I think Senna had about 2 years at Max left...He was 34 at the time of his death,and in those times the drivers never really pushed on pass 35

@@proudlysouthafrican4368 schumi won the first 2 races of the 1994 season. On the third race, senna died. Drivers very much pushed beyond 35 back then. Mansell was 39 years old when he won the championship in 92. Prost was 38 when he won in 93. I don’t think he had a 2 years left in 94. 93 would be considered one of if not the most brilliant seasons of his career, where he split the two Williams drivers in the championship, in a far far inferior car. In 94, Damon was able to take the Championship to the final race of the season. Idk if anyone would question who the better driver was in 94, Damon, or senna. 95 I don’t think Williams was that competitive. Senna was known to take non competitive cars and make a championship run out of them. But 96, 97 could have been his. So 94, 96 and 97, would put him at 6 championships and countless poles. Idk, I disagree that he didn’t have much left in the tank. I agree though that I wish he was a few years younger. I guess I just wish he lived so we could have answers to this question lol. Instead he kinda gets left with 3 championships, and that’s about the extent people think he deserved lol. I disagree lol

@@rabidlenny7221 you failed to mention Damon Hill was only in contention because of bs penalties Schumi endured.. Nobody was anywhere near Michael in 1994 in fact Damon outraced him on merit in only 2 races that year... Without penalties championship would have been won 3 races from the end and it would have been atleast 10 wins for Schumacher that year. One thing is for certain. Senna was very emotional and I personally think he would struggle alot with Michael mentally. Michael was a force to be reckoned with. Cocky, young, confident. It bothered Senna when he realised he could be beaten. I still think Michael would have won in 1994. It would have been close between them but Michael would prevail simply because of his mentality...

8:52 what barnard fails to mention is that in 2013 the cars were much more aero evolved + downforce than in the schumacher era, so that diminished the amount they could turn the car on throttle mid corner

The main factor wasn't downforce at that time or how the cars were set up. It was the Pirelli tires being weak and brittle. Schumacher was blindingly quick, but he needed the equipment to do so. Bridgestone for example developed the exact tire Schumacher wanted. But you will never see a driver sliding around a track with a Pirelli tire because of how sensitive they are. Remember Alonso from the Michelin days? He was aggressive on corner entry, but had to totally change his driving style after Pirelli arrived. Even on a qualifying lap, drivers have to manage tire heat in order to avoid tire degredation during their fast lap which was never an issue in the days prior to Pirelli. If Schumacher had proper tires to work with, he would have had a platform on which he could have a set up the car more to his liking and be fast.

7:00 - good thing Schumacher didn't listen to Barnard and his "drive off the back" nonsense back then. The way Michael wanted it, "off the front" and to place the car just with a strong front cm-exactly into the curve, the car then with the light rear rortieren and so faster straight stand and therefore sooner on the gas to be able to go - that is much faster. More difficult but much faster than Barnard's way. Barnard's way was driven by people like Watson, Berger, Prost - certainly not slow drivers, but "off the front" - Senna, Schumacher, Verstappen. And that says it all I think.

Exactly. Barnard forgot that you have to rotate the car as fast as possible in order to be on the throttle as early as possible. A planted back and good traction only helps if the corner is already behind you, not while cornering. All fast drivers focus on rotating the car quickly and having a straight car to accelerate as soon as possible. What good is a car with good traction if you waste time rotating the car? Schumacher wad right and Barnard totally wrong.

Herbert word "nothing of extra special..", but he wrong completely the analisys. All the drivers in F1 working on the throttle, Senna included in to the corners true, but in a normal way. Michael telemetry can't lie, and say that he working on the throttle in a unique way, during the deceleration after the main breake without give up completely the foot by the throttle (infact when Herbert breake, give up completely his foot by the throttle with a major loosing of rpm). But what astonish me like as Clark say, is his capable to increase and work on the throttle SLOWLY and gentle with many micro foot work, 'till flat out again. Clark say also very clear, that with on F1 car, is impossible increase and working in that way, and the reason is simple ; the trottle excursion is too short !. But Michael succeeded. Phenomenal...

Senna is the most overrated driver to exist. Nelson Piquet on the other hand.

Completely agreed. Piquet was hot-headed, arrogant, and sarcastic, so it's not all that surprising that he was a divisive figure. He was also (arguably less suave and handsome than Ayrton), but he was no less talented of a racing driver.

Yes tuppoo. I think senna was more talented and quicker over one lap. But not as consistent as schumacher and would make more mistakes

And still he did not needed to cheat, he was the best anyway. He made wrong decisions, ute i'm glad we we're able to watch the era he was driving in, great times and great sounds :)
