Welcome to Mike's Vehicle Spotlight! Today's MVS shines on my very own 2011 Ford Escape XLT. We will take a look at everything from the exterior features to the interior features and everything else in between including a full test drive.

I owned one for 6 years, a giant water truck backed into mine in early 2020. Been wanting another since, but settled for other vehicles. Now I'm looking to get another as of 2023. Still great looking, they are literally all over the place, people putting over 200k miles on them. They have all the amenities you'd need without the obnoxious "screens" of death. And the V6 is naturally aspirated and super powerful.

Me too! I feel like a lot of newer SUVs all have the same general look with all of the sharp angles and agressive lines..

I have to say that i own two 2011 Ford Escape XLT unit's. One is the "Limited" edition mid Metallic Grey color AWD 2.5L i4 engine and the other is a Silver 2011 Ford Escape XLT AWD. The Grey one has 215,097 miles on the drive train and trans, engine has 97,473 Miles and runs like a Swiss Watch! The Silver one is having it's wiring harness replaced and then will be back on the road (within a week of this post) I love them both!!! FORD got it right with both the first gen and second gen escape!! I highly recommend these vehicle's to anyone looking for a reliable, durable, strong and efficient SUV. I'll be posting a review video soon of my Grey escape.

The V6 Escape is really not bad on gas. I test drove this generation a few times. Makes me happy to drive it.

I have the V6 with 200K miles and it is bulletproof. I wanted the V6 with the towing package because once in while I have to tow my trailer hauling a big zero-turn mower into town to mow my parent's yard. It's never let me down.

@@Fernando-uw1yi , I have seen some for sale that had more 280K miles ... I guess that if it is well maintained, it will last.

@Conner Mcleod , I have bought a 2009 XLT V6 with 127K mile for my son. Except the fluids and brakes that had to be changed, it was in good shape with few expensive items that required to be taken care of, and it seems that they all have these problems eventually: Spark plugs were original and it took about 90 minutes to replace, EGR Valve (Code P0400) that was caused by the tube bringing back the exhaust gas back to be completely clogged AND the ABS control Module needed to be replaced (Code B1342). That last item was expensive to address because I could not find a replacement module - only the dealer has it - for less than $900 + labor + tax and then the new module needs to be programmed by the dealer for calibration and VIN ... Take that into account when you make your offer.

Nice review and test drive. I own one with the V6 with 106K miles; taking her on her first long drive this weekend (from Philadelphia to upstate Pennsylvania) to visit my cousin and run some errands for her with its carrying capacity, which is something that's not practical with my other car; my 2015 Camaro (which also has a V6 and 23K miles).

I love that steel blue metallic color, its so nice! hard to find it with tan interior tho. I found a XLT with AWD and i'd prefer FWD but its really low miles..

@@brie538 I actually got a 2009 ford escape limited, grey, one owner, also well kept, v6. Couldn't negotiate a deal with the first but the 2nd worked out well.

The V6 in my ford escape is not the worst on fuel. A full tank of gas for me will last a week down to half with twenty minute commutes to work and home each day.

I have 2008 Ford escape 4x4 3 liter V6 I need to change the transmission filter behind the transmission pan because when transmission is cold its work's fine but when it get hot it won't move

The transmission needs to be removed and torn apart to access the filter on these Escapes

I'd prefer a FWD with better MPG but I found a AWD with only 40k (2012) its a little dinged up from repairs over the years, but I'd like to get the FWD steel blue if possible! its so sweet

Get the AWD. There's not much of a difference in MPG and it rides better. Few things though. Change trans fluid every 30k and if you hear knocking on front right or left side when driving it's the STABILIZER LINK.

@@RD24LFG ahhh I think that’s what the knocking is. I did end up getting a FWD. got it for $6k at 80k but had the common half shaft leak. Paid about $1k to get fixed. Been problem free since. It’s a great car for sure. I do hear the knocking when turning slowly. Should’ve got the AWD for camping tho. With all seasons it has clearance but can’t really go off road anywhere

@@DanielGennaro all good. But yes the knocking is the stabilizer bar link costs like 20 bucks buy one and have a mechanic put it on. Knocking gone! Took me so long to figure that out so I share it with anyone who has a gen 2 escape lol

I have the exact same vehicle. I have the flex fuel engine and it’s louder than a normal non flex fuel engine.
