The worst part is that you cannot even speak to anyone or chat about account recovery, the only option you have is to fill out a form that leads to nowhere.

6:35 this is EXACTLY why the recovery form was completely useless to me -- the whole point of resetting my password is to replace my lost password, yet this forces me to make a crude guess of it. The fact that they use an automated system to validate your form further defeats the purpose of such a recovery form: it basically boils down to a more winding process of validating your guess against your lost password, precisely what the login screen does (even though this is merely my speculation since Microsoft gave no description on how accurately you must answer those questions). It's astounding how identical in nature such a form is to the ordinary login method, in that they require you to perfectly recall everything, and provide ZERO information on what parts of the form you answered incorrectly. It's frustrating but amusingly inane at the same time.

Oh my gosh, I have the exact same problem. Yesterday my account was blocked. I have the correct login details, but hadn't updated the recovery email (it no longer exists). I tried all the steps you mentioned, I even mentioned my contacts and the exact subjects of recent emails (asked family and friends) and nothing (got the same reply as you did)...I still thought there was a hope, but after watching your story...it's just so frustrating!! And it's even more frustrating because I do have my login details. I didn't forget or lose my password, I have everything. I just don't have the recovery email anymore... I am so sorry you didn't get your account back after all these years. And I will also switch to gmail!

Yeah I am in the exact same situation as you. I had a student account as my back up e-mail, but forgot to change it when the University deleted it. Then I got logged out of my hotmail account. So my recovery e-mail account doesn't exist anymore. So I need to do the same steps then you. I can even put in the Title and the person I sent the last four e-mails too and I still don't get my account back. I can provide a Skype contact (I can still login to Skype for some reason) and give Skype names that are on my contact list and I still don't get it back. Just tried again - then decided to youtube it and see other people have the same problem.

Perhaps a class action suit! Same issue, both my wife and I experienced same issue. In my case they send 4 digit recovery code to our landline! The recovery form is useless, trying to recall last 3 emails sent and subject matter, as well as security question that I haven't a clue to answer! gave up and joined gmail.

I had so many things in common with your situation. I just pulled up my gmail history too to see if I had anything linked to my old hotmail account and it looks like I have been trying this on and off for 5 years! That's insane. There really needs to be some way to contact a person in support.

My son has had his hotmail account hacked and have spent a hole day trying to get it back. Recovery email is totally different. Gave Microsoft all the information requested and got the same reply. So mad would have thought they would have got it right after all this time.

55 and dealt with computers since 86' and your right if they had more people to contact you like Google does and give you 2 security option to retrieve your password or change it without blocking the account never had a problem with them It's been painful and even more watching you do everything I did and get nowhere. I know have to contact people I know have them sent me email to new Gmail account and go to everything I have and change emails because my concern is someone being about access this account being that I'm locked out of the domain our info is just out there. a boycott with wanting there accounts back in front of Microsoft is the only way to get their attention , (making noise)

Like most, I have two email accounts both Hotmail. If I change phones or laptop goes bad, the I.P. changes. I was get a sync email, but no place to access it. Same circle of password and email it tells me that someone owns that email. Yes, me. Now nothing! Ai is not working as without email, I can't connect with a Dr., business or friend. Hello, my problem is that my father lost his mobile and wants to get his gmail back, but he asks us for a phone number and an email that is the old hotmail that he does not have access to. The hotmail is blocked and to recover it we have to do it with the form, at first when I did it I received a message saying that they could not verify the ownership, but then I began to check emails that have ever sent them a message and that is how I found it in the me and other relatives and I put those emails with the same lines, and he told me that someone from the microsoft team was going to review it after about 2 hours they would return it to me saying the same thing that they could not verify the property and I do not know what to do.

They locked out both my accounts email AND the address I use to get the reset code sent to at the SAME TIME! So I can't reset either one. Your video set me in the right direction though. I was able to answer all the questions except the subject lines for my privous emails. The truth is both accounts have become junk addresses. They say they will contact me in 24 hours. I swear if my credit card number isn't enough then what is? One of the worst aspects of this is I know for a fact they only want a password change "BECAUSE".

I have the same problem. I think their algorithm is defective. You answer the questions they send you correctly and they still refuse to give back your Hotmail address. I have switched to gmail and I have advised others to do that. They have an inefficient, lousy system for verification.Maybe those they assigned to write the algorithms were not smart enough for the job!!! Thanks

The only time I was able to recover my account was when I called Xbox. But this was years before they had made it so difficult.. since then I forgot my stuff again and have no way in recovering it. It's really frustrating since it's been close to 10yrs without access...

I have been dealing with this for a week trying to recover my son's xbox account. I logged him out and then 2 days later when he went to sign in we couldn't remember the password. Even though we have the device ID his name, birthday etc we still get denied. Microsoft said that if I speak to a xbox agent and provide them with when the gamertag was created, the device ID etc they can recover it. Yet xbox tells me the only way to recover it is by filling out the form. Clearly what they are doing Does Not Work!

similar to you, 13 years ago I created my account, suddenly & sadly I was blocked by them me from my own account, and now I cannot log in ever again.

I did all this and eventually Microsoft told me I had enough information, so they sent me a link to sign in. I sign in and I was back to square one, with their phone verification message. I regret signing in to Hotmail in the mid 2000's.

I am having this exact problem, I don't know why I can't use some other method to verify my identity or even use my laptop's passkey to sign in, it just has an error. There should be other ways to prove your account and also have somebody manually help you. I have gone through support and chatted with at least 5 different people even some supervisors and people from other departments and they all gave me different information. Somehow, all they can do is suspend the account, they should be able to do more than that but I think it is because of policies that they can't do anything about it, that really needs to change. The thing I want the most is to be able to access my Minecraft account again, if you have anyway to help me get back into my Minecraft account please let me know.

Here is the problem, if they make it easier, it will also be way easier to steal somebody's email. And if you can steal somebody's email you can also steal all the other accounts connected to this email.

The same thing happened to me. They don't seem to care, but I agree that a simple contact via telephone sounds too easy. It ruined my business. I also had the same issue with trying to do verification of the accounts on social media. It seems as though automation is taking over customer service. Like the Terminator, the system has become self-aware. 😂

My emails were not working so I deleted the app to redownload again. Now I am completely fucked up.they are not allowing me to sign in to any account. Unfortunately, mistakenly I entered one digit wrong of my phone number. So cannot get code there. The account was from 2008. Honestly, I did not remember to whom I sent emails. All the passwords i do remember have already entered but everytime they turn down my request. Another major mistake i had done that put this email as the backup email. So now except being frustrated I cannot do anything. In the name of do called security they have fucked up everything. If you or someone could help me, It would be much much appreciated

this happened to my old gmail :( I even know the password. It asks me to verify it by using a phone number but sadly I don’t have that phone number anymore. I kind of like microsoft’s better cause you have more options. The other sad thing is I have only until july 2023 because googles new policy. I had another old email but I think I had a better chance of removing it because I hadn’t moved states from the state that I made it in. But..l this doesn’t mean I’m gonna buy a flight ticket to recover an old gmail.

worse still, you get frequent messages to provide correct details, you cannot delete the account, quess why? because you cannot access it, it's insane.

Yo there’s a 2 versification ( activated all alone ) They’re sending Emails to 2 Mails that ask me for a double verification. The problem is that I was only using the same mail.. Now I can’t recover none of my mail because of my two accounts…

Finally I found a video I can relate to. I have been trying to recover my account since 7 days. Neither the steps mentioned on support page work, neither the customer agent is able to help. That customer agent will create a ticket and suggest to follow the same step as what you have done in this video. It now seems impossible to recover my account.

I lost access to my 2 hotmail accounts (let's say x and y) and I cannot recover neither of them. x needs to send and receive code from y to verify that I'm the owner, then y needs to send and receive code from x to verify that I'm the owner. So I select I don't access to x and/or y and I enter all the right information I can provide, but their automatic system can't verify that I AM THE OWNER OF MY OWN ACCOUNTS. It's been over 5 years now.. 5 YEARS !! HAHA
