For the first time, the Michelin Guide has awarded eight Vancouver restaurants with a coveted star. Lien Yeung visits winner Quan Ju De to get their reaction and speaks to a local food critic about the impact of the awards on Vancouver's culinary scene.

Personally, I'm very surprised they gave out 8 stars in Vancouver; I was expecting 5. Response on social media has been quite muted, too. Where people expecting more?

Looks like the Peking duck experience I grew up with, costs around 4.5 USD and feeds the whole family with leftovers to go

I have been to several 1 and 2 Michelin-star restaurants in Japan, Korea, and Europe. The 1-star rated Micheline restaurants in Vancouver are inferior in taste and experience to the 1 Michelin-star rated restaurants in other continents. In my opinion, Michelin was too generous in giving out 1 stars in Vancouver.

Money buys alot - even Michelin Stars. Vancouver is flush with money.

Correct I meant hipsters. Hippies are long gone. Hippies are not around anymore are they ( unless you go to the gulf islands ) ? I thought I saw a hippie the other day. Then he got on a motorcycle and roared off. Also he wasn't skinny like hippies

That was J Coats that pointed that out. Not me. I'm confused. Maybe somebody should start up a hippie restaurant since it would be an original novelty , business would be good.
