I spend 30.5 years working shifts at Michelin..Bridgewater N.S. Plant. For the most part the video above is what I did for a living..building carcasses/covers some what by hand. It was a great job and I felt like a Craftsman having to work to the tight tolerances. I was proud of my work knowing that I had put everything I had into each and every cover I made.

Great video. I had a different idea about how tires were made. I thought a steel wire skeleton (all the wire in a tire) was put into a mold and then filled with liquid rubber. The rubber then was allowed to cool. I thought those little needle-like pieces of rubber on a new tire were the injection points. I was wrong, I was so wrong. Thanks for the video!

I really like Michelin, they are more expensive but worth it. Cheap tires don't handle well, wear out quick, and are easily damaged.

I work for Michelin, I doubt you will ever know how the metallics are made due to secrecy. However, Michelin tires are quality tires. Best tire at the best price. Can't say enough great things about the company and our products! Purchase a set of Michelin tires! A BETTER WAY FORWARD.

They arent expensive. They worth every cent of the money because safety save your and your family's life. Use them. And change your tire if it has more than five years of production. U can read in the side of the tire. If it has a three number mark, was made in the ninethies, if it has four numbers, in the 2k, being the last two numbers the exact year, for ex. 2102, week 21 of 2002. So the tire are dangerous to use, because the ruber are drying and will explode. Just this.

Remarkable. I had tried to slash my old tyre with a pen knife using all my strength but nothing happened. It is freakingly strong. Try it to believe it.Of course an extremely sharp and strong object will damage it if is oriented appropriately using enough force.

Ozone damage occurs to any tire. Tires have a lifespan in years as well as millage. Using any type of tire shine on any tire will remove the protective coating which will cause ozone damage to occur even faster. The reason why Michelin says to not use tire shine is because of this and of course you can't expect any company to honor a warranty issue caused by the customer's unwillingness to comply with the manufacturer's instructions.

All tires do this, its just a fact of life for tires. There are many environmental causes of this type of damage. I don't know of any tire manufacturer that will warranty against ozone damage.

Michelin has not done me well. when I bought my 2011 police interceptor it came with Goodyear Eagles. about a year later, I got a new set of Michelin defenders and I DESTROY these things. I have had 2 new sets since October 2016, AND it's December 2016. Good thing discount tire has a $15 replacement warranty.
