Before counting D1 how u get 47 can u please explain

D1 is the value of micrometer before counting the fringes. It is not necessary the initial reading (D1) is zero.

what is the reduction factor? where do you get this value? I cannot find anywhere online that explains this. I see why it is done to get the wavelength in the right range but not to explain where this comes from. @@EasyScience_NTU_041
