I can understand why he asked the questions on that. He wanted a good old controversial response from McCarthy then he’d go interview Roy Keane and get his undoubtedly controversial response to Mick McCarthy. It’s lazy journalism but controversy creates cash, always has done.

I'm an Ipswich fan and like Mick I'm bemused as to why he would have to answer questions on Roy Keane after the damage he caused in the world cup squad Mick was manager of ,and also the mess that Roy Keane and Paul Jewell left behind at Ipswich which he had to pick up and REPAIRD

Keane left a mess at Ipswich but Mick messed up at the World Cup, he should have made sure prep was right for the tourney and communicated properly with the squad, Keane would have been great in that 2002 team

He was brilliant what he did with Ireland in the world Cup. And a lot of that was due to Keane being sent home, the moral of the whole team lifted.

I was on Micks side on the whole mess (I'm a Utd. and Roy Keane fan) , I think Roy should have stayed and could have if he wanted to but at that world cup if we had him in our team we would have gone further and who knows how far, we might have won it, it was was a definite chance lost at the time I've always thought.

The questions are from an idiot ‘interviewer’. MM is sat infront of an Ipswich Town logo where he was manager, so instead of surmising on what fans might be “thinking”, which is a ridiculous notion, try this on for size instead, since this piece, MM has managed the Republic of Ireland again... that’s right, they asked him back, and has finished with a 46+ % win average over a total of 78 games. 34 wins and 24 draws. .... that’s not bad for International duty. He’s a good manager, end of.
