£80/100$ bowyer. Become a Bowyer for less than £80/$100! My Bow Making Tool Kit. I've been asked what tools, aids and workspace I use to make my longbows. I show you the tools I currently use and how I started bow making for less than £80 / $100.
My initial bow making tool kit was similar to this. This is enough to make a finished longbow.
FOLDING SAW WOLVERINE HIGHLANDER £9
MACHETTE COLD STEEL PANGA XX £20
WOOD FLAT RASP 8" BACHO £12
CABINET SCRAPER KUNZ £6
TILE SAW GENERIC £9
SECOND USER DRAW KNIFE EBAY £20
Of course I have added many more tools and aids in the 18 months that I've been bow making - and I now have some covered workspace in which to work - but I want aspiring bowyers to know that it isn't expensive to build a tool kit that will get a beginner started.
I now also use a Gerber Bear Grylls Machette/Parang, Wickes tile and wood saw, Kendo rasps, Garlick Cabinet scrapers, a block plane, Silverline bench 6" & 8" woodworking vices, Silverline 200lbs hanging heavy duty scale, Mora splitting knife, spoke shave, Hitachi power drill and various items such as rulers, pencils and other aids found around the home.
Much of my kit and materials are readily available on eBay, Amazon and local DIY outlets.
Thank you for watching. Comments, likes, suggestions and subscriptions all very welcome.
Self-filmed with a Panasonic GH4 + Lumix 14-140mm lens, GoPro Hero 3 and DJI Mavic Pro aerial camera drone. Edited with iMovie.
