First video for the year and she’s a cracker, new spot, new rod and some big fish!!!!

Loving your videos Mick, always super entertaining and knowledgable. I notice you're running a Garmin in the tinny and a Simrad in the Haines. Any preference? The reason I ask is I'm re-fitting my tinny and need a sounder, I had been looking at a Hummingbird Helix 8 but wonder if the Garmin, Simrad touch interfaces are worth swaying my decision. I know this can be a can of worms but you put in a lot of time on the water and really know your stuff!!

Thanks mate, happy to help!! The Garmin is the best all round unit on the market period! The Simrad/Airmar combo I got on the big boat is exceptional also, I haven’t tried a Garmin out wide other than the old tinny videos I’ve done around the islands but it’s pretty damn good offshore. With a better transducer I reckon it would be excellent also! If you’re gunna buy one unit but do all styles of fishing a Garmin would be my choice…

@@Micksgonefishing Thanks heaps for your advice Mick it's truly appreciated . Such a difficult field to navigate with all the marketing hype, they all look so similar. I'm based in Brisbane so I'll be fishing Moreton Bay and Brisbane River predominately. You've made my decision a lot easier, I'll look through the Garmin range tonight. Thanks again mate!!

Something to do with an old dog new trick 😅😂 nah I can get an ok image and all but can never find the lure so can’t fish it confidently, might be my settings or maybe the setup. Might need a 16” on the nose just to see it better, but I can’t justify the coin involved right now, maybe one day 🤷🏼‍♂️

interesting to hear mate, The live imaging looks amazing. Would love to chuck it on a boat but hard to justify the price. I have seen a few products you can throw on your lure that enhances it on the screen. might be worth a look while you get used to it. Sick video though mate loved it like always.

Good vid Mick. I know that you're a big fan of BKK but the Owner Beast hooks and Flashy Swimmer hooks don't open up like that. Just sayin'...

Yeah I know the beasts all too well, and I’ll say that they all open if the fish is pinned in both jaws. I should have tied a new hook on instead of bending it back but it came around and bit me 🙃

You might be able to enable word blocker in the comments whereby you list the name and location as being ‘unusable word’ and it will automatically be blocked.
