I think it's also easy to forget but many associate oversea with the west but technically speaking everywhere not Japan counts as oversea and for all we know they might not have really went that far like still in Asia or some pacific islands like Guam or Hawaii.

Almost every country (except maybe France) has a significant English speaking population especially in any area around an airport I live in a developing nation in asia and its pretty hard to find an employed person in my city who cant speak english

Anyone living in southeast Asia obviously knows more about how much English is spoken there than my American self does . . . but I still feel pretty strongly that the conversation implied that they expected to encounter mostly English speakers.

and yea, 7-11 used to exist a lot in ID, but their business is failing and I haven't seen one for years. However, there are lots of convenience store here that do stuff like 7-11. However the biggest problem with ID is we are not really talk in english in everyday life. Singapore or Malaysia is more probable option imo

I doubt it's any of those. It's either in Southeast Asia, Taiwan, HK, or one of the Pacific islands. They're no more than a few hours from Japan since it was late at night where they were, and just past midnight in Japan.
