Here I'm talking a bit about the 22cu/ft soda kiln I built in my backyard. It's an interesting design, one where many factors went into the final product. I touch upon fuel costs, space, materials, basic kiln dimensions, and sources of info. I just re-watched a bit of it and laughed out loud at the "hope" that it could fire to cone 10 in 8-10hrs. Nope! First two firings were about 19hrs to cone 10 on wood. They were both good firings with excellent results, but more importantly, a lot of info as well. I think 12hrs would be optimistic, but 14-15 isn't. More to come. Stay tuned!
