Thank you for sharing! 💜 I just washed my hair this morning. I'm still braiding and banding, 8.5 months in. My entire perimeter unravels (front, sides, and back) even with the braiding and banding (but I at least still have some locs left when I braid and band 😬). I can't wait till i get to that free stage where you are! ✌🏾💜

Anytime, It's truly my pleasure. I feel your pain. You will get there. You just gotta see it through. On the Bright side I think it still beats brushing and combing loose natural hair any day. Those wash days literally took up the whole day 😂

Hey nice to hear from you again! Thank you, We must be loc twins! I love to hear and see people who have locs similar to mine. 💜 Do you have ones that grow way faster than others too? My back sides of my hair always grew faster than the rest but it's really apparent in my locs how extreme it is lol.

@@pattysan99ps @pattysan99ps You are so kind, thank you 💜 And I wish it was in the middle instead cause I could cut my hair in a v-shape or rounder shape. Then I could let it be longer but my random long ones look so displaced 😂

I've also use Dr. Bronner's. The first time I did notice flaking because I didn't rinse thoroughly. Once I am done with my bottle, I'm going to try the one you used and compare because I am over the peppermint smell lol. Your hair looks nice, I can't wait to get out of the braid and band stage.
@SocialSymone
@SocialSymone 8 ай бұрын
Yes, the doctor Bronner's was hit or miss for my locs. At first I didn't see any issues but I think after my second wash I noticed a slight film on my locks that was not there before and I always make sure to dilute that shampoo because I know how strong it can be. I used to use it on my loose natural hair all the time. It also doesn't just make your scalp tingle, IT'S EVERYWHERE and I really don't like the feel of the peppermint on the other parts of my body. 😂 I just dealt with it because I like how it made my scalp feel. I'd love to know what you think of the shampoo once you give it a try and you will be out of the braid and band stage before you know it! It feels like a distant memory even thinking about braiding a banding for me and my locks are not even two years old yet. How far along are you in your journey?

@@lakeishionstreet 🤣 If you know you know, I got surprised the first time. Was minty for a good hour 😆 You are at a fun stage in your journey! Lots of changes. Are you planning to ditch braiding and banding asap? Alot of people continue to do it years later, I'm talking like 2 cause they want to make sure they have no bunching. I didn't care so I stopped around month 5. I do see bunching is a headache for many people that want very uniform locs.

Dont cut it. Let them grow free and wild. Some may grow faster, some may grow slower. Let them be and do their thing. It also might be that since some locs will grow at different rates, if you cut it straight across, months down the line it still might develop a slight unevenness still because of the different rates of growth, at that point having to cut staright across again, taking long to gain length.
@SocialSymone
@SocialSymone 8 ай бұрын
I understand your perspective and that each strand of hair is in it own growth cycle. From my experience with my hair my back left sides alway were longer than the rest of my hair dramatically. I didn't think its be so dramatic with my locs but it still showed lol. I ended up trimming them in the video I posted yesterday. I'd love to know how you think I did. 💜

I always record myself whenever washing my locs. I spend at least 30 mins washing my hair. I always wash it thrice just to get it really clean and prevent residue. My locs are equally uneven but i realised it's going to be that way till i probaly hit the 3 or 4 year mark. It used to put me off but now, im okay with them. I'll trim them when they're a bit longer
@SocialSymone
@SocialSymone 8 ай бұрын
Agreed, wash days are very fun to record! They are relaxing to look at also. 30 minutes aint bad to me a bad at all. You know what's crazy is, I was actually also going to wait about 2-3 years into my loc journey to do my first trim. I just couldn't take it anymore. I'm I'm glad that you're not trimming has worked out good for you so far and that you are OK with it now. That is what is most important. 💜

I stopped around month 5-6. During that time, I Continued to Braid and band around the perimeter. I had locs that would slip every now and then. I combined one that always used to slip with another loc. But over time I ended up getting them to loc all the way so now it's not a problem at all.

In my experience with my hair my back sides grow faster than the rest of my head, I understand completely what you are saying and agree. I may or may not cut them at the time depending on if I feel it will make me happier with the overall appearance. In this video though, I was honestly not feeling just how uneven it is 💜
