Its really sad even my friends are in debt to Klarna. its always for useless things. If you cant afford it now you wont afford it anyway. Only case I think its good is if you need a new phone or smt rn for your work.

I’m not obsessive with the Buy Now, Pay Later. I use it, but only if I know I can afford the payments.

My rule of thumb for this is if the total is more than my paycheck, then i can't buy now pay later cause if i couldnt buy it in full why would i space it out? I like knowing that if i want i could pay it off in full without stressing is a must for me. Anything else I need to save for.

Never use it, and don’t want to. If I buy something I like it to be done by the same day on my account

Was anybody else raised with “if you can’t buy it twice, then you can’t afford it”??? I’ve only ever used Afterpay for a pair of shoes I needed for a new job, come on nowwww, in this economy?

from what id seen girl math was like "if i buy this 200 dollar item then I'll have to stop drinking starbucks for 4 months to not go over budget." not "I'll go into debt and pretend im cute and silly 🤪🤪"

3:01 Walmart layaway. I remember my mom had put a few things in layaway at Walmart when I was a kid and to me Afterpay is just reverse layaway. With layaway you need to make a deposit and pay in installments BEFORE receiving your purchase. That’s what makes all these Afterpay-type payments so wild to me. Being able to receive a product up front and pay in increments AFTERWARDS is what’s really helping people let loose with their wallets. If they had to be disciplined & thoughtful enough to wait before purchasing something many people wouldn’t be spending like crazy.

this is partially why i deleted shopping apps off my phone. i no longer allow myself to shop blindly and treat amazon like social media, scrolling until i see something i like and immediately tapping on it. i went back to shopping in person, because i can visualize how much i’m actually purchasing, and i can evaluate whether or not things are unnecessary because i see them and i see my total rack up. online shopping, especially for certain people, can be deadly to wallets.

I feel like I'm getting 2nd hand embarrassment. Any intelligence I had depleted a couple pixels listening to this girl. Ty for helping me through this!!!!! 🥴🤣 If u buy something and return it, you're getting your money back and don't have the items unless she WANTS to rent her life.

I worked at a boutique that sold clinique and estee lauder, and sold the products from both. Let me tell you, SAVE YOUR MONEY. I shop for my stuff at walmart, for years now, and honestly, my skin is the best it's ever been since I left out all the overpriced crap, and just use my face bar ($5) and my two little serums ($5 each). That's all. Keep it simple. More expensive does not mean better.

I use to use Afterpay but I’d pay it the next day after using it I know it’s not free Money and I don’t do it anymore only when I was on a trip outta state but you reminded me I have it so I’m going to delete my account and remove the app

I use Afterpay RESPONSIBLY. I don't do multiple orders at once and I make sure things are completely paid off before starting other ones, and don't do it often.

I just talked to my husband about how some people we know, who do not make more than we do, but have new vehicles, trips, etc. And I couldn't figure it out at all. Where were they getting the money?? It was debt. Tons and tons of debt. How does this not keep people up at night? I would be actually sick. At 18 I learned this lesson hard, I had about $900.00 in debt and then lost my job. The interest was hell, and it took me so long to be free. No one had explained how everything worked. But I learned fast. I've been out of that crap for over a decade. To any young people like I once was, don't fall for those store credit cards. You don't need that crap!

I regret ever letting my financially abusive ex convince 18 year old me to get afterpay and zip pay. He has a big inheritance he can fall back on if he can't pay his own zip pay and zip money accounts. I have nothing and I had bipolar which went undiagnosed for years thanks to a psychiatrist who thinks every moody woman has BPD and ignored manic episodes in response to antidepressants and upping the dose. When I wasn't using MY afterpay for HIM, I was manic and going online shopping at 3am after not sleeping for almost a week. I stopped the excessive shopping with afterpay and zip once I was medicated and stable (also after leaving him as he relied on my afterpay and zip a lot) but I'm still feeling the pain from zip and paying it 2 years later. I refuse to use any pay laters ever again. If I can't afford it upfront, I don't buy it. I made a single exception last year so I could visit my dying grandfather overseas who I hadn't seen in 7 or 8 years. As soon as that card and my car are paid off next year, no more debt. I need savings. I'll never be able to save enough to buy a house in Australia but I can at least have money to fall back on if my health deteriorates again, money I can use to travel and visit my grandmother, money for emergency vet bills and just having comfort knowing I have a safetynet.

I’ll be honest, I thought it was just girls online trolling but now I realize that it’s mostly real and that’s ridiculous to me. The “girl math” concept about being dumb and ditsy…It’s just so condescending to me? I can’t fathom why women feel the need to do this and actively avoid preparing for their future

my use of girl math is when I buy something that’s a little bit more expensive outright but I break it down and say if I wear it so many times it’ll be so much every time I wear it, but w afterpay it is like a hell to not escape from

why are people using klarna and not paying them back?? you literally can’t use a pre paid card and the only option is credit or debit…and your debit and credit cards are connected to your ssn💀! if I use klarna I sometimes even pay off my dues earlier than the date or just not use it and pay it in full!

A few years ago I became severely depressed. I was so overwhelmingly tired when I got home I just crashed. Then I found “self care” videos. They said they knew how to get my life together. It became an obsession. I had a ton of products. If I didn’t do my routines I would feel so guilty. Even though they would just stress me out more because of my how busy I was. Eventually I got help tho and I’m better now. The products never made the sadness go away. I was only 14 at the time and still figuring out who I was (still am tbh). I looked up to the people I saw online, because their lives were so much better. I still have a busy schedule, but I have found a few ways to cope. When I do have a mental breakdown I at least know who can actually help me.
