MICRONEEDLING PRODUCTS I PERSONALLY USE⤵
I own both the Dr. Pen A6S and the Dr. Pen A6 - both are excellent. I prefer the A6S for its features and it seems a bit stronger than the other one. Here is the A6S on Amazon - amzn.to/3RSRwbX * These are affiliate links and I earn a small commission on purchases. Thank you!
The hyaluronic serum I use is Pure Hyaluronic Acid from Cos De Baha
amzn.to/2YWRLav
For a great sunscreen for very dry skin (no parabens, great ingredients), I highly recommend Cotz SPF 40: amzn.to/2TkCUFC
For an amazingly affordable sunscreen without a white caste, great for dry to normal skin - Good Molecules SPF 30: amzn.to/3QAOzPN
The Gloves I use are Nitrile exam gloves: amzn.to/2U35wU3 and I also use them at home for many other purposes as well.

INFO ABOUT NUMBING CREAMS ⤵
I did some research and discovered that over-the-counter topical numbing creams have the potential to be dangerous - even at these doses of 4%-6%. There have been actual deaths of young and healthy people - from topical numbing cream, applied with an occlusive (ie: a covering like plastic wrap). When doing any treatment that impacts the skin's permeability, like through microneedling, it is more risky if you accidentally don't remove it all 100% before needling.
Here is an article and some studies:
www.nbcwashington.com/news/he...
jamanetwork.com/journals/jama...
academic.oup.com/asj/article/....
I know that most people will be perfectly fine if they use it, but I am not going to take any risk for the sake of these treatments. Also, since doing this treatment so many times now, the pain is not bad at all compared to how it was the first time I did it!

I have had acne for years. This resulted in me picking at my skin and of course scars over all my face. The scars on my temples were from middle school (I am 33 now) and I have spent my life hiding behind my hair. I wasn’t sure how much this would work, but I was willing to try anything. i try koi beauty microneedling pen, after my third treatment, i can say they are 50% gone and my skin looks so radiant and younger and softer! This was beyond my expectations.

Didn’t really help with a little wrinkle under my eye which I’ve had for many years now. I find it hard to be consistent but have been wanting to do it once every month! Not using vitamin C post-treatment is so true. WAY early on when I was stamping on my own, I'd use a vitamin C serum after in the treatment area and it always stung. Years later did I learn through research and having needling professionally done that you should NEVER use any active before or after the treatment. I cringe at the videos out there where people use vitamin C afterwards. You should always use a pure hyaluronic acid serum or toner -- that's what clinical offices use too. Great video.

@@LifeDIY I unfortunately have not seen much improvement from my professional treatments either. Microneedling seems to work for a lot of people, but also not work so much for others. Thanks for the info. I went to a clinic and esthetician did everything wrong. She applied vitamin c to my face before and after, and also applied acid and made my face burn as hell. I was doing it for my acne scars, and it didn't solve my problems... I read you can't apply acids to your face after you microneedle because your skin is injured and sensitive

Anyone thinking of doing this, I recommend going to a skin clinic and getting it done before trying it at home, that way it won't seem so scary and you can judge the healing and results off of it, maybe even get ideas for aftercare, ive had this done 4 times in the clinic and it's the best treatment but expensive , going to try it at home as just got a Dr pen so have a fair idea now

Thank you so much for sharing this advice! I am about to post a video this morning and in the end of it, I say the same thing. I wish I said it in this video though! It is such a good piece of advice for those who can afford to try it out in a clinic first. Otherwise the second best option is to start with dermarolling first, if concerned and work the way up to it - once the person does some research on it all. Thank you!

Hey Anna! Well, I haven't noticed too much excess hair growth elsewhere. I also noticed that I don't have excess hair growth every single time. I think it depends on the hair growth cycle things are in, but I am not sure. I think if I wanted to really have extra hair growth with the brows, I would make more time to focus on needling that area...which I haven't been too focused on lately. Luckily I haven't had excess hair growth on my face overall from microneedling. :)

Thanks for this video! I used to get a huge significant discount on my professional needling treatments and I could afford to do it every month for over a year and my skin was INCREDIBLE. Then the pandemic hit and I didn’t have it for 2 years and now that I’m doing it again it’s significantly more expensive than before cuz I don’t get that discount and I can’t afford to do it often :/ I bought my own pen when the pandemic started but I’ve been scared to do it at home however I wana try to do it and just keep it at that depth you mentioned. Have you ever had any infection or adverse reactions? They’ve gone pretty deep with me professionally and used TCA right on top. I want those results that I had before! @LifeDIY 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Samer! Thanks for the comment! I understand what you mean about the HA serum drying way too fast. Is there any way you can try the one I'm using - from Cos De Baha? It's way thicker, almost like a gel, than other ones I've used. It really doesn't doesn't dry up easily. Besides that, from what the experts have stated online about products to use - they would say to avoid anything other than HA, if doing this at home epsecially. When I first did it, I used oil - also something you should avoid. Some people will be ok using things like that, but it could cause some skin issues. Most experts just recommend the best HA serum you can find - with few ingredients.

Thanks Nik. Usually the day after, I really stay inside and even close the window curtains. Then the following day my skin feels fine for sunscreen. But, if I had to go out the day after, I would definitely wear sunscreen. Sometimes my skin feels extra sensitive after needling so I try to wait a day in between. :)

I use a 30% glycolic acid peel twice a week and it’s much faster and better results I’ve found. It makes skin smoother, tightens and lifts my drooping eyelids a bit, and helps with wrinkles around the eyes. It helps with acne scars and evening the skin tone. If you want to try it do research and start slow then up the amount of time you leave it on and the number of layers. It has basically no downtime and you can do it when you have acne unlike microneedling. But both are good because for anti-aging and stimulating collagen and you can totally incorporate them both into a routine

Thanks for sharing this. I do glycolic peels too and totally agree that they are very effective and can be a great alternative (or something to do in conjunction) with microneedling. I have a video on this too and share my 5 year results from peels. :)

Great recommendations! The main problem with MN is infusion with insulting foreign chemicals when the channels are still open. Q: How long do you avoid sunlight after treatment? When do you apply sunscreen? What about vitamins? I watched your video on this (jan2019) but wanted to know if you have updated your views? To minimize even more the inherents risks of the ingredients/vehicles with ready-to-use products, have you thought about creating them yourself with pure ingredients i.e HWM-HA? (got this idea by reading -the highly recommended- Lance Setterfield's book; he doesn't necessarily support this, but in countries where there are poor regulations to cosmeticals, you are left with no options). btw my gf looks similar to you... similar eyes, cheekbones, nose etc and she's in her late 20s. I'm 'bout to introduce her to microneedling lol

Just did my first micro needling session tonight. I did follow Pen Smith’s tutorial. My face was so red afterwards but like she said it goes down very quickly and your skin just feels tight. I also used the Dr Pen A6. I did also numb my face. I’ve seen other KZfaqrs use products straight after but I just stuck to HA

I’m 42 years old and just got a Dr. Pen. I bought the 42 pin attachments with it. I’m using it for hair loss which I’m not bald just noticing my hair line in the front is starting to thin in a 2 small places. I came from a different channel where the guy is using the same equipment you are and he recommended for hair loss or scalp work to go 1.5 and go in a circular motion about 5 times in each area needed. I washed my hair and face then started. Man it stings on the scalp to the point blood was coming out which I’ve heard on a few different channels is completely normal and is actually good because it means I’m getting deep enough for it to stimulate hair growth. My question to you is do I have to put anything on my face before and after the procedure? Should I put anything like Neosporin to prevent infection on my scalp or is it ok just to leave it with nothing on it? I see you have a lot of comments so if you don’t answer I understand and if you do then thank you!

My face is well healed after 3 weeks, using the .5 depth. Does everyone wait 4 weeks before the next treatment, as you do? Just curious. Also, the speed used was a middle range since it was my first time. Is there a greater benefit going highest? This was very helpful after doing my first treatment. Thanks. 😀

Do you think that microneedling would help redness? Little broken capillaries on your cheeks? I just started getting that this last year. Not sure what's caused it, but I thought it was initially from crying so much, but who knows. I don't drink alcohol, which I know can cause redness in the nose area. Any thoughts or tips would be great. I have a Doctor Pen, and Hyaluronic acid, I just haven't ever used it. Thank you for the tips.

I did not recommended to use any kind of brush while applying serum. Brush is collecting alotz of germ. For the hair you really need headband to avoid touching your hair during procedure. Hair is just like the brush. They have germ in there. Avoid touching other part during procedure.

Also I have used many different peels/strengths and they seem to just freshen my skin up. You peeled great in your other video I seem to flake mildy in places. Would I get better results in the pen do you think? Great video. Thanks.
@LifeDIY
@LifeDIY 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Rich! You might want to try out some peels for the acne scars. It depends on the type of scars you have, but this video might be helpful: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y5p-pclqzpy2f6c.html. Otherwise, microneedling with a pen might help. I would hope it would. I only have a chicken pox scar on my forehead, and I need to take some more closeups to see if it's improved since I started the needling, as it wasn't super noticeable to me to begin with - and I didn't really focus my treatments on that area specifically. I think the pen can work more aggressively than a roller, for sure. It might take a combination of methods to get rid of the scarring. I have heard of others having really great results though.

Life & DIY I know you are a fan of the ordinary's buffet. How soon after needling do you apply it? I was thinking I would put it on immediately post- needling. Also do you do any cosmetic depth(0.25mm) needling for product absorption in-between your needling for collagen production(0.5mm)? If so, how long after? Thanks!

You are a very pretty young lady with a down to earth quality I find refreshing. Like you I am not using any numbing cream, I just fo=don't want those chemicals on my face. I have done TCA peels before and yikes, those can really burn, but the results are always great. After tonights torture, haha, I'll be searching for products concerning a body peel, best products but not too spendy! Claudia Glows recommends one that seems to be what I'm looking for but kinda pricy.

Sherri, thank you for the comment! I would recommend trying face peels first probably - just to get used to doing new skincare procedures and getting your skin used to it. Peels are absolutely incredible. The very first ones I ever used were from Dr. Gross - their peel pads amzn.to/32ix1NF and they are incredible but a little expensive. These are supposed to be great too: amzn.to/2V91NqU and cheaper. They peel pads are what initially got me hooked though! I did a video on beginner peels and I still love all of those ones still too and they are more affordable. If you ever have questions, let me know! ☀️

Thank you for sharing! I have subscribed! I like the way you sometimes talk to the camera, and other times just show a sped-up version while you voice narrates and explains in the background. Good way to shake it up. I have one question: in another video someone said that you should raise and set the pen down rather than glide it across your skin. They claim that you want to simply make holes, whereas if you glide with the pen that's cutting channels. Thoughts? How do professionals do it, if you're willing to go and have it done?

Thank you! I have a more updated video too if you want to check it out. The feedback is so helpful. I've been receiving this comment a lot just recently. Who mentioned you should only do stamping motions? I learned mostly from Penny from the youtube channel Penn Smith Skincare and she said it does not matter at all which way or which direction you move the pen. For me, if I am going deeper than 0.5mm, it tends to hurt more and my skin is more sensitive in certain areas (like the forehead) so in that case, I will do a stamping motion (due to the pain). I've never had any noticeable issues with cutting the skin. I've just had great results from it! :)

Very informative video! I've recently purchased my own dermapen and I've been using it at 0.25. I am scared of needles, but I'm willing to do this for myself and my acne scars. I had microneedling done by a professional, but it feels better when I control the pen myself. It's odd, I know, but it seems to hurt less this way 😅 Anyway, happy microneedling, everyone, and remember SPF!

Can you also use microneedle on white chicken pox scars? I caught chicken pox in my early 20s and got impatient with the scabs on my face and neck so I picked it off (terrible thing to do).. now it left white chicken pox scars on my face and neck. I went to consult a derma clinic and the total cost to repair my scars is around $1,700. That's too expensive and I'm looking for alternative and affordable options. Wondering if microneedling can help me with this.
