But don't freak out, most of them are actually helping you. They protect you and help with digestion and do other things. But some of them are pathogenic. This means they can cause disease. Let's learn more about what they are doing in there, how they help, and how they can harm!

Microbiota research has exponentially increased over recent years. It's super fascinating! Many insights come from these studies, such as several bacterial metabolites influencing your brain (gut-brain axis), or 'leaky gut' inflaming your liver (gut-liver axis).
